Kris and Marie had worked together at Olive garden for about a year, and if you ask Kris, he will swear up and down that Marie had the first crush. They talked occasionally at work, but pleasantries were all it was. That all changed after a birthday party for one of their mutual friends. Marie showed up with a 12 pack of tacos from Taco Bell, and Kris couldn't take his eyes off her!

Kris and Marie had gone to look at rings together, and they found one that they both fell in love with. Kris paid the deposit and planned to come back without Marie, so that she wouldn't know when he bought it and hopefully there would still be an element of surprise. But a couple of weeks later, when Marie found the purchased ring in one of Kris' desk drawers, she was sure she had ruined the surprise and that she would see the proposal coming a mile away. Fast forward a bit, and Kris' mom is asking for a picture of Kris and Marie to put in her office. Now, she didn't intend for it to be anything super special, but Marie took this as the perfect opportunity to convince Kris to take some nice pictures. He was not thrilled about the idea and drug his feet every step of the way, so Marie had no idea that he had something up his sleeve. They were posing for pictures under a beautiful tree in downtown Nacogdoches, Texas, when Kris got down on one knee, and Marie ecstatically accepted!
