Kris had recently moved to Utah and decided to update her dormant match.com profile. Not long after, she received a message from Ari in November 2024. Ari and Kris chatted with each other through the website, then text messages. Ari thought Kris was AI because there were just too many similarities. Kris was cautious due to previous Match.com dates. Our first date was over hot chocolate on MS Teams. Ari had not yet diagnosed whooping cough and had pretty much lost her voice, so Kris did a lot of talking. For Ari, who can be sort of reserved, Kris' exuberance could have been the end of the beginning. Thankfully, the next day at work, Ari’s boss said to give Kris another try. Our second date was at Olive Garden where we both had our server cracking up with our immediate rapport and back-and-forth banter. We learned that we both love travel, adventure, dogs, and lifetime learning. Our combined humor, goofiness, and ability to pose similarly for selfies without planning represents our special uniqueness and attractiveness to each other. We are unexpected, 40-something year old soulmates who found each other and continue to travel in the same direction. Kris knew that Ari would pop the question sometime this year, but when? In a continuation of our tradition of visiting parks in Utah over President’s Day weekend, unbeknownst to Kris, Ari devised a potential plan for our 2026 trip to Zion National Park. After our crepe dinner, Ari drove us back into the park where we parked in the same pullout as earlier in the day, so we could gaze at the starry night sky. We admired Orion, saw some shooting stars, and then Ari said something about trying to kneel. Ari had been carrying the ring in a pocket all day, unsure whether the right moment would present itself. With Orion as our witness, Ari proposed, and of course Kris said yes!
