Below is a curated list of things to do in the Hudson Valley that we’ve enjoyed together! We recommend taking a little time to see what New York’s Hudson Valley has to offer apart from your favorite couple!

Take a stroll down Main Street Cold Spring and enjoy the shops, grab a coffee, walk by the water! This is the village where we had our first date and now where we will tie the knot. The village has a lot to offer and you can get to know a place that is very special to us as a couple.

Beacon

A great town to walk around, thrift, grab a bite is Beacon, NY. Located a short drive from our wedding location and Fishkill, strolling Main Street is a great way to spend a day in the Hudson Valley. There are many good restaurants and little shops to bop into!

Fahnestock State Park

Remember that creepy cabin Kris lived in? Well you can visit the State Park where it is located! Kris spent years living and working in Fahnestock State Park with Tim and Aaron. You too can see what kept Kris in New York (besides Anna of course) by visiting this beautiful park and exploring the trails.

Bear Mountain State Park

A short drive away you’ll find yourself across the river at Bear Mountain State Park. Here you can take hikes with views of the Hudson River and enjoy the fall weather!

Breakneck Ridge Trailhead

Hiking in the Hudson Valley in the Fall is a must-do! Breakneck Ridge is considered the top hike in the area and the trailhead is very close to our wedding. This is considered a hard hike and not for those without any trail experience. The views at the top of the Hudson River and surrounding area are breathtaking.

There are several hikes of Mount Beacon, all of which are considered hard. Like Breakneck Ridge, these hikes offer sweeping views of the area and the Hudson River!

Check out one of Anna and Kris’ favorite breweries in the Hudson Valley! Serving an amazing array of beers brewed on site if you can’t make the welcome gathering we suggest stopping in on your own. HVB is definitely a great place to stop in if you choose to walk the downtown of Beacon while in the area!

The ambiance and beer are both great at Sloop Brewing! Located in an old IBM facility, The Factory @ Sloop Brewing is a cool old school vibe with nods to the old IBM factory that used to take up this space and be a central nerve to the people of the Hudson Valley. Yummy food selections, great beer, and board games available!

Not too far of a drive away is Bad Seed Cidery offering local cider options and craft beers on tap. Their taproom is a great little gem to hang out with a fire pit and food trucks. What could be more New York than sipping hard, local cider as the colors change?!

The Walkway Over the Hudson is a steel cantilever bridge spanning the Hudson River between Poughkeepsie, New York, on the east bank and Highland, New York, on the west bank. Built as a double track railroad bridge, in 2009 it was opened as a 3.0 mile round trip pedestrian walkway. In the fall the walkway offers beautiful views of the foliage and the river.

Across the river from Cold Spring is West Point. Here you can tour the museum or book yourself brunch at the historic Thayer Hotel. Fun Fact: Anna ran in many indoor track meets in the West Point field house in high school!
