We met while we were both on the rowing team at Boston University. We were friends first until all of a sudden one day, things changed! We dated through the last two years of college but decided to go our separate ways because we didn't know where the two of us would be after graduation and we (Mike) didn't want to do a long distance relationship. Mike ended up moving to Philly right after college for 4 years, while Kayla moved to San Clemente, CA for three months to train for her new job, and then headed back home to Boston. After Mike had been down in Philly for a while, he invited Kayla to go visit, and she agreed (because at this point, we were back to being friends). After spending the day together adventuring around the Morris Arboretum at UPenn and checking out the Spring Street German Festival, Mike ended up telling Kayla he missed her and that he wanted her to be his girlfriend. We started dating on 5/4/13 and did long distance until Mike moved back home in August of 2016. On 6/24/17, we decided to go into Boston because we hadn't had a weekend home in a while. We were walking along Boston Harbor when all of a sudden, Mike got down on one knee and proposed! Kayla of course said yes and we immediately started planning our wedding.
