Our Story

From a summer spark to a lifetime of love, laughter, and adventure

The summer after Morgan graduated from Purdue, before moving to DC for grad school, she took a serving job at Bonefish. During training, coworkers insisted she meet Kyle—a fellow Purdue fan who had worked at the same restaurant as Morgan before. When they finally worked a shift together, Morgan and Kyle instantly connected, bonding over music, movies, and of course, Purdue. Though they didn’t exchange numbers, Kyle wasn’t ready to let the moment pass. After the shift, he texted Morgan for her coffee order, ready to make her double shift the next day a little brighter. Their first date was a movie, and their second, a sweltering outdoor concert, sealed their connection. Despite Morgan’s impending move to DC, they spent the rest of the summer inseparable, making the most of their time together. Their first trip, a camping weekend in Traverse City, made it clear that what they had was special. It was clear Morgan and Kyle not only shared goals and values, but their goofy humor as well. Though hesitant to ask her to be his girlfriend before she moved, Kyle couldn’t resist; just days after Morgan left for DC, he called to make it official. For two years, they braved a long-distance relationship, flying back and forth and rarely going more than six weeks apart. One of the silver linings of COVID was that Morgan’s spring break visit to Michigan turned into a permanent reunion. Finally, no more flying back and forth for only a few days together, watching shows together on FaceTime. They went from long distance to moving in together, as Morgan started a job in Lansing, and Kyle finished his degree at Michigan State. After four years of living together, they embarked on their first trip abroad, a three-week European adventure. Surprising only to Morgan, Kyle provided the ultimate romantic gesture: a sunset proposal in Rome. A few weeks prior, Kyle had asked Morgan’s dad for permission, and he responded, “I’ve been waiting for you to ask this, I would have said yes a few years ago.” Morgan and Kyle are so grateful for their shared love of family, adventure, and humor, and they can’t wait to spend their wedding day with everyone they love. Thank you for celebrating our love!
