If you have any other questions than the ones we have listed, please reach out to Kaitlin (614-572-8432) or Brendan (612-868-5542).
Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

We're going black tie for the big day! We'd love for all our guests to wear black attire only. For gentlemen, this means a black tuxedo or formal black suit. For ladies, a long black gown or formal cocktail dress is perfect. Because our ceremony will take place at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, we also ask that attire reflects the setting. The Cathedral of Saint Paul encourages modest dress out of reverence for the sacred space. For women, this means dresses with modest necklines and skirts that fall at least to the knee. A shawl, wrap, or bolero is a great option for added coverage. For men, your tux or suit should be appropriate for a religious service and not distract from it. No costume suits. We're so grateful for your help in creating a celebration that is both elegant and respectful of the Cathedral's traditions. If you have any questions on this, please reach out to the bride. :)

Question

Is there transportation on the day of the wedding?

Answer

Yes! We'll have complimentary shuttles running between our hotel block at The Renaissance Depot and both the ceremony and reception venues. More details on timing will be shared closer to the wedding.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Kids are welcome for the ceremony but not for the reception! We love your little ones, but our wedding reception will be adults-only celebration. We hope you'll take this night to relax, dance, and celebrate with us! If you have any questions on this, don't hesitate to reach out!

Question

Is the wedding indoor or outdoors?

Answer

Both! Our ceremony will take place inside the beautiful Cathedral of Saint Paul, and then we'll move to the Van Dusen Mansion for the reception. The reception will be indoors with access to outdoor courtyards and gardens - perfect for a little fresh area between dinner and dancing.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Early September in Minnesota usually brings beautiful late-summer weather. Historically, you can expect highs in the mid-70s and lows in the upper-50s, with a gentle chance of rain. We're hoping for one of those perfect crisp fall-is-almost-here days to help us celebrate! We always encourage checking the weather leading up to the big day and you may want to pack layers, just in case. :)

Question

What should we do between the ceremony and reception?

Answer

Answer TBD..

Question

Are there any other events that I should know about around the wedding?

Answer

We will have a welcome party on Friday September 4th at North Loop Green from 6pm to 9pm. All are welcome to this event and we hope to see you there! We will have cocktails, wine, beer and light snacks. You can even bring your dog, Penny will be in attendance! For our immediate family and wedding party, we will have our rehearsal on Thursday September 3rd at 6pm at the Cathedral of Saint Paul. More details will be shared directly with you on what to expect.

Question

Are there other options for travel than the hotel block?

Answer

Yes! Airbnb or VRBO's can be a great option if you're traveling with a group, family, or friends! The hotel is in a very central location for both our ceremony and reception but if you'd like to do a house, you are more than welcome to do so! You can always ask the bride and groom or Dave Zimmel and Kathleen McCarthy (Brendan's parents) to give feedback on the location if you decide to go with an Airbnb!
