How We Met

9.13.13

We met on an Autumn night during a party at Eric's house. Eric was new to North Dakota and Kourtney was new to campus. We started talking and didn't stop till the night was over. We exchanged phone numbers and arranged our first date for the next night. It didn’t take long before our dates turned into a relationship which we are soon turning into a marriage.

The Proposal

3.14.18

Her Story: We were on vacation in Mexico and I knew we were going to get engaged. Eric hadn't given me any signs or hints, but I just felt like it was going to happen. We got dressed up and went to supper alone one night. My sister actually begged to come with us, but I told her she no (because I wanted him to propose!) But nothing happened at supper. Afterwards Eric suggested we just go to the bar. I felt deflated. I had been so sure he was going to propose. I looked at his pockets and even went as far as patting his pocket to feel for a ring to double check if I should be disappointed, but there was nothing there. Eric led me over to the bar, taking a path which had a bridge going over the pool. When we got to the bridge, Eric stopped me, got down on one knee, and proposed. My answer was obviously yes! His Story: I knew well before our vacation to Mexico that I wanted to spend my life with Kourtney. I took so much time picking out the perfect ring, and trying to be as sly about it as possible. To make sure the ring was the right size, I tried on a ring I’d gotten her for Valentines Day. She never takes it off so surely it was odd to her when I slipped the ring off her dainty finger and onto my own. Once we embarked to Mexico I knew I didn’t want to start or end the trip with my proposal – so on a night I knew we wanted to have a private dinner, I smuggled the ring to our location. Being that Kourtney is highly observant, I knew I couldn’t just put this huge box into my pocket. So I improvised. After dinner as I led her across the bridge, I bent a knee and asked the love of my life to marry me. She said yes.
