Things To Do

Old Town Scottsdale

Old Town Scottsdale

Scottsdale, AZ 85251

Old Town Scottsdale is centrally located in Phoenix. It boasts shops, restaurants, and wild west charm. It's about a 7-10 minute drive from the Andaz. There is also a trolly that drives around the area to hop on and off of.

Arizona State University, Tempe Campus

Arizona State University, Tempe Campus

Tempe, AZ 85281

Known for its parties and higher learning, this is the institution that Katie and Teddy attended. Lots of memories, friendships, and education took place at this very campus! The best years of our lives, we recommend visiting if you have the chance! There's a lot of beautiful architecture, vegetation, and history at this beautiful site. Highlights include Old Main, The Design Building, and Gammage Auditorium (designed by Frank Lloyd Wright).

Mill Avenue

Mill Avenue

Mill Avenue, Tempe, AZ

Where it all began.....Mill Avenue is a shopping and dining district adjacent to the university with popping nightlife. Some recommendations for dining include PedalHaus Brewery, Culinary Dropout, and Pita Jungle.

Taliesin West

Taliesin West

Scottsdale, AZ 85259

Katie's favorite activity in Phoenix (when visiting from Chicago) was visiting this marvel. A really unique and historic Frank Lloyd Wright creation, we highly recommend booking a tour in advance. They offer many different tours of the home and all admissions go straight to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation.

Camelback Mountain

Camelback Mountain

Phoenix, AZ 85018

Hiking Camelback Mountain is slightly daunting, but can be done ;) It is one of the more challenging hikes in the Phoenix area. It has two main trails that offer different methods of hiking but can get you to the top either way. The views are worth it, but we would recommend plenty of water and hiking gear. Some less strenuous hikes around the valley include South Mountain, A-Mountain (next to ASU's campus), and Pinnacle Peak.

Four Peaks Brewing Company

Four Peaks Brewing Company

1340 East 8th Street, Tempe, AZ 85281
, (480) 303-9967

Teddy's favorite brewery in Arizona! They offer flights of beer and great food. We recommend the fish and chips, BBQ chicken pizza, wings, and beer! Teddy's favorites are Hop Knot, 8th Street, Kiltlifter, and Katie's favorite is the Peach Ale (perfect for those who don't love beer). Parking is extremely limited at this location, but if you drive around the back, you can usually find some spots!

Postino Highland

Postino Highland

4821 North Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251
, (602) 428-4444

One of our absolute favorite restaurants in Phoenix, we try to make a trip almost every time we are in town! Known for their bruschetta boards and wine and beer selection, you can't go wrong with anything on their menu. They have great patios and serve happy hour drinks everyday before 5PM where you can get $5 glasses of wine and pitchers of beer :D They have a few locations around the valley, but this is the closest to the Andaz.

Snooze, an A.M. Eatery

Snooze, an A.M. Eatery

2045 East Camelback Road, Phoenix, AZ 85016
, (480) 725-8000

The perfect spot for breakfast or brunch, Snooze offers plenty of options for everyone in your group. We've tried a lot of items on the menu and have loved them all. They are famous for their creative pancake flavors, so we usually order one for the table to share.
