FAQs

Is there a Dress Code?

We're requesting "Black Tie Optional" attire.

Tuxes Gowns Suits Cocktail Dresses are all welcomed! (Our wedding colors are blue and gold, so extra bonus points if you wear blues/navys or khakis/golds - but this is absolutely not required! We're just excited to see you looking your fabulous, fancy self!)

Can I take Photos?

We ask you to refrain from taking photos at our ceremony.

We would love for you to be fully present with us as we receive this sacrament. There will be two professional photographers who will be taking photographs during our ceremony and reception that we look forward to sharing with you! You're welcome to take photos after the ceremony concludes and at our reception.

When will we eat?

Hearty appetizers will be served during cocktail hour.

Dinner will begin around 7:00 PM

Ceremony to Reception Travel

Our ceremony and reception are in two different locations.

Our wedding ceremony is at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church (cross streets are Hayden and Cactus). The reception will be held at the Community Center of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral (cross streets are Maryland Ave & 20th St). It is about a 20 minute drive from the ceremony to the reception.

How is parking?

Parking is free and easy at both the ceremony and reception.

Both Assumption and Holy Trinity have spacious parking lots with ample space.

What music can I expect?

That (partially) depends on you!

Please please please pretty please submit song recommendations to us when you RSVP! We'll be sharing that list with the DJ. Other than submissions, we'll have a mix of Greek, Latin, Rock, Pop, Rap, 90s/00s hits, and Juan & Katherine's eclectic favorites. We'll ask the DJ to keep it PG until around 9:00PM.

Where Can I ask Questions?

Shoot us an email!

You can reach the bride and groom at katherinekosterjuanweaver@gmail.com!

Where's My Invitation?

Am I still invited?

Yes - if you got a save the date, or if Juan or Katherine said you were invited, you are definitely invited!! USPS can be iffy, so if you haven't gotten an invitation yet - please get in contact with the bride and/or groom so we can resend!

Some Greek Wedding Traditions

Bomboniere & Dollar Dances

BOMBONIERE: An essential part of a Greek (and Italian!) weddings! Jordan Almonds are wrapped in groups of five almonds—representing 5 wishes: health, wealth, happiness, family, and a long life together. GREEK DANCING: Greek dancing is an essential part of Greek Weddings! After dinner, the reception dance floor starts with the bride and groom leading a circle folk dance, joined by our koumbaros and wedding party, and eventually, family and the whole reception joining in! Click on the link for an overview of common Greek wedding dances: https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-ideas/greek-wedding-dance-videos (Don't know how to Greek dance? Join anyways! And don't worry - we'll have lots of traditional Latin, pop, & rock music to dance to throughout the night as well!) DOLLAR DANCE: During the first Greek dance, it's common for family and friends to throw (rather than pin) dollars at the couple and wedding party. It's lots of fun and gets everyone's energy going for a night of dancing!
