For a cozy and delicious night out, we love Coda di Volpe in Chicago’s Southport Corridor, just a quick 10-minute ride from the hotels. This Southern Italian spot serves up house-made pastas, wood-fired pizzas, and rich flavors in a warm, welcoming setting. Don’t miss Kate's favorite, the Cacio e Pepe or Ian's favorite, the Salsiccia & Soppressata pizza. Reservations are a must, so be sure to book ahead!
For a romantic evening in Chicago, Le Petit Marcel is one of our favorite spots. This charming French restaurant is the perfect date night destination, offering delicious, authentic dishes that make you feel like you’ve been transported straight to the streets of Europe. If the weather’s nice, definitely grab a table outside. The atmosphere is cozy, intimate, and unforgettable. Just a heads-up: you’ll definitely want to make a reservation here, as it’s a popular spot!
One of our go-to spots for a low-key date night, The Galway Arms is a cozy Irish pub with a great patio and one of the best pints of Guinness in Chicago. Just 15 minutes from the hotels, it has a welcoming, no-reservations-needed vibe that makes it perfect for a casual evening out. Whether you're there for a drink, some comfort food, or just good conversation, it never disappoints. It’s also a great spot for brunch or lunch if you’re looking for a relaxed daytime option.
Venture 15 minutes from your hotel to one of Kate's favorite spots, the Lincoln Park Conservatory! The conservatory is a beautiful, historic greenhouse filled with exotic plants, flowers, and tranquil garden paths. It’s free to visit and open daily from 10am–5pm. It is perfect for a peaceful stroll before brunch or an afternoon of exploring nearby Lincoln Park Zoo and the lakefront. Consider checking out the Lincoln Park Zoo after, also free!
Planning a visit to the Lincoln Park Conservatory? Pair it with a stop at Colectivo Coffee, just a 10-minute walk away. It’s the perfect spot to fuel up before your stroll or unwind after. Ian's go-to is the Vanilla Latte served hot, and Kate swears by the Iced Cold Brew Oat-Chata. Great coffee, good vibes, patio, and a relaxing start to your day in the city!
While you're in the neighborhood, don’t miss the Lincoln Park Farmers Market (open on Saturdays). We always grab a jalapeño sourdough loaf from pHlour Bakery & Cafe, and they also make incredible pastries! If you’re looking for something sweet to take home, Hoosier Mama Pie Company (GO HOOSIERS!) has some of the best pies in the city. You can even build your own bouquet from local flower vendors. It's the perfect way to soak up a Chicago morning.
One of Ian’s favorite spots in the city, the Diversey Driving Range, is a great way to spend an afternoon outdoors. Just 15 minutes from the hotels with easy parking, it features a double-decker driving range and a fun little mini-golf course. Kate has never beaten Ian at mini-golf... but she’s not giving up. There’s also an outdoor bar with live music on the weekends, making it the perfect place to swing, relax, and enjoy the lakefront vibes. Afterward, take a minute to walk the lakefront and soak in some fresh air and beautiful skyline views.
One of the best ways to see the city, the Chicago Architecture Boat Tour takes you along the Chicago River with stunning views of the skyline and fascinating stories behind the city’s most iconic buildings. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a relaxing way to take in the sights, this tour offers something for everyone. It’s a must-do for first-time visitors!
Chicago is home to so many incredible museums; the Art Institute of Chicago, the Field Museum, the Museum of Science and Industry, and more, but the Shedd Aquarium is our personal favorite! Located right on the lake, the Shedd is home to thousands of aquatic animals, from playful otters and penguins to mesmerizing jellyfish and tropical fish. It's fun, interactive, and perfect for all ages. Plus, the views of the skyline from the museum campus are unbeatable!
