Let the celebration begin!

Kate and Ian’s journey began in 2017 during their sophomore year at Indiana University. Even at a campus of more than 40,000 students, their paths briefly crossed amidst groups of shared friends. When Ian needed a date to a toga-themed event, he mustered the courage to ask Kate and the two never looked back. The following summer break was replete with visits in between their hometowns of Indianapolis and Chicago. Ian’s first trip to visit Kate in the Windy City even meant meeting her parents that same weekend. As the new school year came around, they were officially two Hoosiers in lockstep with one another. Their college memories are filled with walks to class, hikes of Griffy Lake, embracing each other’s friends, and of course, enjoying nights at Kilroy’s. After graduation, life took them on separate adventures. Ian accepted a job in San Francisco while Kate completed a teaching position in Auckland, New Zealand. Though oceans apart, they only grew closer through long-distance calls, letters, and countless visits between California and the Windy City. When COVID brought Ian back to Indianapolis, he soon moved to Chicago to be closer to Kate and their friends. Fast forward to May 2024 and ready to take the next step, Ian crafted an elaborate plan to get down on one knee. Considering Kate’s sharp intuition and knack for uncovering secrets, he enlisted the help of coworkers and friends to create a fake awards ceremony, complete with invitations and phoney emails from HR. As they arrived at the “gala”, Ian revealed the ruse and asked Kate for her hand in marriage. Their celebration continued that evening as both families traveled to host the newly engaged couple at Quartino, one of their favorite Chicago spots. Soon after, they toasted with their amazing friends who have witnessed their love unfold every step of the way. Through masters degrees, world travels, and time with loved ones, they continue to embrace their partnership with every new chapter. It's time to tie the knot!
