How We Met

May 2017

Cameron and Katherine went on their first date at Lucky's in the Oregon District. There was an instant connection, and the two spent the evening talking about their shared love for family, hiking, traveling, and music. Their relationship continued to grow over the summer as they explored Dayton and went on many adventures together. After her senior year at Ohio University, Katherine moved back to Dayton, and the couple picked things up right where they left off. There was a mutual understanding that this was the real deal, and they were committing to "forever." The couple took that promise seriously and have since lived in three different homes together, moved to another state, started new jobs, adopted a kitten named Stanley and a puppy named Walter, bought a house, and got engaged!

The Proposal

January 2022

After closing on their first house, Cameron and Katherine eagerly drove to their new home. Cameron had planned to propose the next day but decided on the car ride home to do it that evening. Cameron, Katherine, Lady, and Stanley went to their new home to explore and pop a bottle of champagne. Little did Katherine know, they would be celebrating more than a new home! At the new house, Cameron snuck off to the bathroom to dress Stanley up in a little tuxedo. Of course, the beloved cat had to be involved in the proposal! Katherine's response to Stanley's get-up was, "aw, he's so cute!" and she pretended not to know what was about to happen. Cameron then got down on one knee and asked Katherine to spend forever with him. The answer was, of course, YES!!

The Venue

The venue was the easiest decision for the couple to make! Cameron and Katherine attended a folky music festival called Duck Creek Log Jam on the property (yip yip!). Before seeing Caamp perform in a torrential downpour, Cameron told Katherine that he loved her for the first time. It was a no-brainer to get married in such a special place among the rolling hills of Appalachia.
