Traditional Celebration

On Kofi's second day of moving to Seattle, fate brought us together at a mutual friend's event. From the moment our conversation started, there was an undeniable connection. With ease, we had a deep conversation, already discovering our shared experiences and commonalities such as our curiosity for learning, the importance of family, or both attending U. of Michigan for grad school. As the event ended, we exchanged contact information. It was an enchanting encounter that highlighted the beautiful potential of our bond. That night Dana texted Kofi to share that she enjoyed the conversation and to wish him well with acclimating to Seattle. Kofi asked if she'd like to join him at The Seattle Aquarium for their first date in a few days. In the early stages of getting to know each other, we found comfort, humor, and shared values through our frequent texts and conversations. Both working remotely, we often chatted in between Zoom calls or took walks around Seattle- a new city for both of us. Like the first day we met, our love continues to grow through listening, conversation, and lots of laughs and jokes.

We discussed getting engaged several times before it actually occurred. However, Kofi did his best to dodge Dana's many questions while planning. During our spring break, we traveled to Dallas, where we spent quality time with family before planning to head to New Orleans for a much-needed vacation. Under the guise of a fancy date night, we headed towards downtown Dallas early in the evening. Atop the Reunion Tower, Kofi popped the question-- promising a future built on love, trust, and shared dreams. Dana enthusiastically said "Yes!"-- even before Kofi could fully ask. As we look back on that unforgettable spring break, it reminds us of the power of genuine communication and the support of family bonds. Kofi worked with Dana's mom in the months leading up to the engagement to get the ring shipped to Dallas and to plan an engagement party dinner the next night. We're so excited to continue our story and celebrate this next chapter of our lives with you. We hope to see you in Dallas or Ghana!
