St. Patrick's Day, 2012. Dustin was in LA while traveling around the U.S. filming a documentary (he lived in Asheville, NC at the time). He was meeting a friend for dinner at TOI (an awesome rock'n'roll Thai restaurant on Sunset Blvd., down the road from where Kate lived). Kate was out celebrating a friend's birthday. The birthday group rolled in, sat and ordered, and then Kate and the birthday girl noticed Dustin, sitting alone in the window booth waiting for his friend. Kate was ordered to ask him to join the party. He did. And the rest is history!

St. Patrick's Day, 2021. Dustin & Kate had planned to spend the anniversary of the day they met at the Huntington Library Gardens in Pasadena. Dustin was driving and missed the exit, putting them off course by 15 minutes (causing him to start acting very strange). When they entered the gardens, Dustin took Kate's hand and beelined towards the rose garden and, under a giant tree in the middle of the rose garden, got down on one knee and asked Kate to marry him. Unknown to Kate at the time, he had hired their friend and awesome photographer Eric to secretly film the proposal and take photos of them from afar while at the park. It was beautiful!
