Theresa and Chris technically first "met" online on OkCupid. Chris, being intrigued by a photo of Theresa sunbathing on a rock, reached out to her. Theresa responded and they began messaging each other. Theresa had recognized Chris from when they went to school together at Central Catholic. She was a freshman when he was a senior. Needless to say, Chris wasn't aware of this at all. After hitting it off AnimatorChris and Tfish decided to finally have an official meeting in Downtown Toledo at the Pride Festival.

Before moving back to Ohio from Tennessee, Chris and Theresa joined with family to celebrate the 4th of July at Chris' parent's home in Michigan. Chris had schemed up various ways in which he would ask Theresa (many involving family and friends); however, when the time came he knew he wanted it to be something just between the two of them. Chris had his mom distract Theresa while he got her parent's blessing. Then, when Theresa came back Chris asked for her to help him out in front of the house. It was there Chris got down on one knee and stammered through a proposal. They both rejoined the family shortly after for lots of good food and champagne.
