Things To Do

The Big Island is full of fun places to explore, adventures to have, and food to eat! Here is a list of places we’ve visited and recommend! 🌺
‘Akaka Falls

‘Akaka Falls

Honomu, HI 96728

Arrive early for good parking! This is a short, paved loop hike through lush landscapes.

Big Island Bees

Big Island Bees

82-1140 Meli Road, Captain Cook, HI 96704

Bring a picnic lunch! The views are beautiful, and if you have the time and extra money, take the tour. 🐝

Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park

Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park

1 Crater Rim Dr., Volcano, HI 96785

If the lava is active and you are able to… go! And go even if the lava isn’t flowing and you have time. It’s a beautiful area with lots to see and do.

Kailua Bay

Kailua Bay

Kailua-Kona, HI 96740

It’s the start of the demotion of the Iron Man race! We’ve taken a dip here a few times during our first visit together in 2022. There are free lockers to store your stuff.

Liliʻuokalani Gardens

Liliʻuokalani Gardens

189 Lihiwai Street, Hilo, HI 96720

From gohawaii.com: “Blink and you may think you’re in Japan as you stroll through peaceful Liliʻuokalani Gardens, named after Hawaiʻi's last reigning monarch, Queen Liliʻuokalani. Located on Hilo's Banyan Drive, this authentic, 24.67-acre Japanese garden was dedicated in 1917 as a tribute to Hawaiʻi's first Japanese immigrants who worked in the island of Hawaiʻi's sugar cane fields.”

Pu'u O'o Trail

Pu'u O'o Trail

Hilo, HI 96720

One of Marie’s favorite hikes on the Big Island, this ~8.5 mile trail goes between dense forest and lava rock and has a beautiful view of Mauna Kea. If you want more hiking recommendations, ask Marie! She’s hiked all over the Big Island- including Mauna Kea!

For all the days along the way
