Want to stay near the hotel? Check out this website to see a list of fun places to visit in downtown Leesburg! Nestled in the heart of Loudoun and serving as the county seat, Leesburg is a picturesque small town with a bustling historic district filled with boutiques, craft breweries and almost a dozen coffee shops and cafés. On King Street, (Leesburg’s restaurant row) dine on oysters, farm-to-table fare and street tacos while soaking up the storied ambience of a town once home to icons like General George C Marshall. Stroll the streets with a camera in hand to snap photos with the numerous murals, sculptures and LOVEwork sign by the Washington & Old Dominion Trail- all part of the town’s arts and cultural district.
The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington Dulles International Airport is the companion facility to the museum in Washington, D.C. Hundreds of historically significant air- and spacecraft, along with thousands of small artifacts, are on display in an open, hangar-like setting. Other features of the Center include the Donald D. Engen Observation Tower, the Airbus IMAX Theater, and the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar, where visitors can watch museum specialists restoring artifacts.
Kyle and Kristin went here with the counseling crew (Emily, Ethan, Jenny, Seth, Oliver & Jen) and loved that they have both beer and wine and Italian food! Kristin says to get the chicken parm sub and pair it with some red wine.
Take an easy hike (like really easy, Kristin did it) and then reward yourself with a brew & a view over at Bear Chase Brewery! Thank you Emily & Ethan for introducing us to this spot. It is our favorite Bluemont date activity! Easy Hike: Bears Den Overlook A short easy hike with a beautiful overlook to the west. Starting at the same parking area on Rt. 7 as the Raven Rocks hike, this out and back hike climbs a gentle 280ft of elevation along the Appalachian Trail to the Bears Den Overlook. Moderate/Difficult: Raven Rocks Hike The view from Raven Rocks is one of the best in the area. At a total distance of 5.8 miles with a vertical gain of 1,530ft there are three strenuous ascents on this out and back hike, as you can see from the elevation profile. The only consistent complaint from reviewers is that the hike is extremely rocky. Make sure to wear good footwear. A hiking stick or poles are also recommended.
Drink beer & throw axes!
