Lost Sunglasses

Summer 2016

Josh and I met while we were both working for the City of Fort Collins Parks Department. He sat across the table from me at our morning meetings, sharing nothing but awkward glances at each other for weeks, his first words to me finally being "Do you want me to mow this for you?". Of course, I didn't actually hear any of it over the sound of his mower and my weed-eater. We finally had a chance to talk without the interruption of equipment when I tad to take my work truck into service and he was tasked with being my ride back to the shop. We listened to country music and made small talk - mostly about country music and not understanding the hate it gets. When we got back to the shop I knew I had to get to know him better, so, I took his number off the work directory posted in the hallway, and texted him "Hey, it's Kaitlynn from work. Did I leave my sunglasses in your truck by chance?" While I did actually lose them, I knew for a fact that they weren't in his truck. I never found my glasses, but I did land the boy, and 4 years later, here we are.

Adopting Juno

Very early into our relationship, I decided I was getting myself a puppy. Josh accompanied me an hour into the hills to Redfeather, where I was going to get this little chocolate brown boy puppy I had my heart set on. We get there and I of course want to see this little brown dog I had been day dreaming about for weeks. He was really cute, and I was going to settle on him right then and there, until Josh asked if they had a runt. Remembering my dad always saying the runts made the best dogs, I was also interested at this point. So, the owner goes in the barn and brings out this mostly black puppy with a brown butt. he hands her over to us and she kisses us and shows us just how feisty she is, squaring off with her sworn enemy, Josh's shoelace. After defeating her foe she walks away, proud, until a surprise attack from a truck differential she ran into sent her yelping back into the barn. We were in love.

Adopting Charli

Josh had been talking a lot about wanting another dog, specifically a lab, and as fate would have it a co-worker of mine - Clay - said that he had need his lab and was expecting puppies soon. I excitedly told Josh and was surprised to his lack of initial enthusiasm. After a few weeks of persuasion, and showing him tons of pictures Clay and his wife Marsha sent me of the puppies, we drove the hour out east to go meet all the puppies, Josh still a bit hesitant. There were 2 yellows and the rest of the litter was black. Clay immediately handed Josh the 2 week old runt, knowing that he had a soft spot for them, while I happily went about cuddling all the others, especially liking the biggest chunkiest boy in the litter. All it took was a few tiny licks from Charli and Josh was head over heels for the palm sized puppy, refusing to even hold another. We spent the next few weeks excitedly awaiting her, and now her and Josh are completely inseparable.
