Emma and Matthew met in 2012 at the University of Cincinnati when Matthew enrolled in one of Emma's American Sign Language classes. They started dating in 2014. There have been some ups and downs, but both are committed to spending the rest of their lives together. Matthew stood with Emma throughout the entirety of her cancer diagnosis and treatments, and she supported him throughout his graduate program. They enjoy spending time with each others' families and take an interest in each other's hobbies. Matthew tolerates (but also lowkey enjoys) Emma's Disney and book obsessions, and both share a love for Star Wars. They look forward to planning a life together! Running joke: Emma gets free hearing aids from Matthew; Matthew gets health insurance from Emma. ;)

Emma's favorite movie was "The Little Mermaid." With Matthew's last name, she couldn't resist the perfect opportunity!
