Wedding Party

Meet our family and friends we consider family walking down the aisle with us. We could not be more honored to have you all by our sides on our big day!

Morgan Begley

Matron of Honor

Morgan has been Kirsten's best friend for over 20 years. They were always the two girls in all of the guys basketball camps and tournaments. They ended up being teammates on the court through High School, as well as putting in some serious miles together, training for Track & Field and Cross Country. They spent their early days watching Chappelle's show, quoting movies, and making warmup mix tapes. Nowadays, they pretty much always talk about their beloved pets. Kirsten is beyond lucky to have Morgan by her side, not only on September 29th, but every day. Luckily, Morgan gave Patrick the thumbs up when he sported a cut off Dale Earnhardt tee, jorts, and a styrofoam cooler filled with Miller Light and Mountain Dew at her NASCAR themed golden birthday party last year.

Christopher Hazely

Best Man

Chris and Patrick have been best friends since middle school, playing soccer together through High School and rooming together at Virginia Tech. Their friendship grew in part due to their extreme fondness for competition and outdoor activities, including washers, foosball, ping pong, golf, and even four square (yes, four square). The series remains tied, though each would claim otherwise. Chris has been a close friend to Patrick throughout his whole life and, while living in separate parts of the country the past 8 years, he still calls Chris for guidance on every major decision he makes - a true friend.

Lauren Landem

Maid of Honor

Lauren has also been one of Kirsten's best friends over the past 20 years. Usually, if you needed to find Morgan, Lauren, or Kirsten, you could find one wherever the other two were. Lauren was also part of the basketball crew starting in 6th grade. None of them will ever forget Lauren's buzzer beater granny shot from half court which won them their 8th grade tournament. Growing up, the three of them had countless sleepovers at the Landem's house. They often consisted of scary movies, which were then followed by playing ghost in the graveyard around the neighborhood. Lauren is, and always has been, the nicest person on the face of the earth. She always puts her friends first and will do anything to make them happy. Kirsten is so lucky to have Lauren by her side.

James Powers

Groomsman

James (aka Jimbo) is Patrick's older brother and, while growing up, his identical twin. The two looked so similar growing up that teachers would get them mixed up (Patrick also used this to his advantage on multiple occasions throughout college while leading up to his 21st birthday). Patrick admired and tried to emulate his "cool" older brother in almost every aspect of life - from what clothes to wear, which sports to play, and which music to listen to (Pearl Jam!). He trusted Jimbo so much that he let him pierce his ear during middle school (note: it took several tries)! The similarities between them is why they remain such close friends today.

Sarah Brunton

Bridesmaid

Kirsten has also known Sarah since 6th grade and they immediately became friends. Sarah is always the life of the party, getting everyone out on the dance floor, and is the best hostess around. She's the one to lend a listening ear and give a fresh perspective. One of Kirsten and Sarah's most funny memories together is from their high school days, when Sarah was starting to venture into her cosmotology training and dyed a strip of Kirsten's hair red. She also dyed her mom's white sink red too. Whoops. While Sarah didn't have the height to join the others on the court, she joined up with them and it is hard to find a picture without Morgan, Lauren, Sarah, and Kirsten together through highschool to present day. Kirsten could not be more excited to have Sarah by her side.

Jordan Powers

Groomsman

Youngest of the Powers siblings, Jordan (aka J Pod) has been the de facto third musketeer of the Powers brothers since Jimbo and Patrick met Jordan in 1990. Jordan has persevered through decades of name calling and bullying by Patrick (and Jimbo) to become a rocket engineer for SpaceX. Patrick still likes to take credit for Jordan's success since it was he who convinced Jordan to follow him to Virginia Tech and pursue engineering. Jokes and name calling aside, Jordan has always been there for Patrick, though thick and thin; his adventurous spirit and active personality keep Patrick, James, and Lindsey young through the years.

Lindsey Powers

Bridesmaid

Kirsten might have been more nervous meeting Lindsey than meeting Patrick. Lindsey is an incredible person and role model to Kirsten. She has spent the better part of the last decade abroad, working on educational development in Indonesia and, most recently, in Amman, Jordan. Kirsten feels fortunate that Lindsey moved back home this summer because it allowed them to get to know each other before Lindsey landed her dream job in Washington DC. The bonding was effortless due to their shared interests, life ambitions, and enjoyment of Patrick's goofy childhood home videos and pictures. While they've only known each other for a short time, they look forward to all of the years of friendship to come. Lindsey truly is the sister Kirsten always wanted.

Brandon Wood

Groomsman

The picture says it all - Brandon and Patrick are two peas in a pod. The two were in the same launch class at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and immediately hit it off when neither wanted to talk about their careers or GMAT scores, but rather the upcoming world cup in Brazil - both happened to be going! From solving for Bayesian Nash Equilibria to 23 hour stretches of watching premier league games at Cleos Pub in Wicker Park, the two created and killed many brain cells together over the past few years. They look forward to doing the same for years to come!

Grant Pufahl

Usher

Grant is the youngest of the Pufahl trio and benefited from seeing how Kirsten and Bret navigated life before him. He got dragged to every softball game, basketball tournament, cross country race, and whatever else was going on. This time, Grant is actually excited for his sister's event. In fact, he may be the most excited of the group for all of the wedding festivities, as this will be the first wedding he's attended. Patrick and Kirsten intend to set the bar high for any expectations he'll have going into future celebrations.

Bret Pufahl

Usher

Bret is Kirsten's younger brother and the direct beneficiary of endless sibling debate, as it sparked his successful pursuit of becoming a lawyer. Bret has recently inspired Kirsten as he began dedicating every Tuesday night to volunteering, teaching a youngster from Chicago how to read and work through math homework. He has become a brother who can give sound advice when needed and still knows how to have a good time. Patrick and Kirsten look forward to having Bret join the festivities on their big day.

Blue

Best Dog

Blue enjoys long walks on the beach and through Central Park on Sunday mornings after his pick-me-up Puppaccino from Starbucks. He has transitioned seamlessly from rural Kentucky to the Southside of Chicago to the Big Apple. While Blue has been by Kirsten's side since day one, he has fallen in love with Patrick over the last year and couldn't imagine life without his popcorn and beef jerky handouts.

Jeremy Vuolo

Officiant

Patrick and Jeremy have been "brothers" since the earliest days of playing travel soccer together. Both aspired to be the next Ryan Giggs or David Beckham. The two trained so much and so often that their respective parents actually became concerned at one point - it was the life! Their friendship, however, went well beyond the pitch. The two also shared a passion for Christ. Through the years, they counseled and supported each other through the good times and bad. Whenever Patrick had a major decision in his life, Jeremy was always there to give him guidance. That is why Patrick feels honored to have Jeremy playing such an important role on this special day.
