How We Met

11.2.16

November 2, 2016 was a magical night - the Chicago Cubs won the World Series. More importantly, it was the night that Kirsten and Patrick met! The two had both decided to test out the online dating app, Bumble. From what they had both heard, Bumble was the "classy" dating app. Kirsten wasn't being a very diligent dater and accidentally let Patrick's match expire. Luckily, she was out watching Game 7 with some friends who convinced her to bump up her plan and pay the $9.99 fee so that she could reconnect with Patrick. Once she was convinced to do that during the rain delay, the next challenge was coming up with the perfect opening line, since on Bumble the girl has to initiate conversation. After a little liquid courage, "Fingers crossed you're a Cubs fan too" was decided on and the rest is history. It was the best $9.99 she ever spent.

Date Night

11.7.16

With a chic spot picked out, Patrick and Kirsten had their first date all set. However, last minute, both decided some pizza would better suit their taste buds and style. So, there in lied the perfect first date night, consisting of Aurelio's pizza and a Blue Moon and topped off with some Kimmer's Ice Cream. Conversation was great, laughter was loud, and sparks were flying. Patrick was a perfect gentleman, who ended the night asking if he could give Kirsten a hug and see her again. Many more dates followed, all better than the last. The two were lucky enough to celebrate their anniversary with the exact same evening as their first date, though, recreated in NYC thanks to some dry ice, overnight shipping, and some amazing friends over at Kimmer's who stocked their freezer with their favorite ice cream flavors.

Proposal

10.28.17

Patrick proposed to Kirsten on a beautiful, sunny day while hiking atop a glacier in Iceland. The day began with a sunrise drive along the southern coast, filled with spectacular views of Iceland's famous black sand beaches. Next, the two hiked through a few stunning ice caves and along several incredible crevices scattered through the glacier shelves. Finally, with the late afternoon sun beginning to set, Patrick asked for the tour guide to take a picture of he and Kirsten with the glacier and mountains in the background. When he approached Kirsten, he dropped to a knee and told her how much he would be thrilled for her to marry him and begin a lifelong journey of many more adventures. She said yes! Needless to say, the rest of the day was filled with smiles and laughter, capped off with a beautiful sunset drive back along the coast.
