This is a classic Auckland activity which on a nice day out gives you a great view of the entire city. You can dine up here for lunch or dinner, but we do recommend booking if you're wanting to dine in. Otherwise you can just visit, and if you're feeling brave they even have the option to do a sky jump from the top of the tower! This is called AJ Hackett Auckland SkyJump & SkyWalk.
This is a great place to visit on a sunny day, for a nice morning or evening walk, an ice cream and fish and chips at the beach, or a sit down meal at one of the many restaurants Mission Bay has to offer! We recommend Bodrum Kitchen for some medeterainian (plenty of vegetarian options here), or Oak Barrel Wine house or Toninos Pizzeria for some authentic Italian. However any of Mission Bay's restaurants are a great option, you can just walk down the strip of shops and choose!
One tree hill is a great place to come on a nice day! There is an amazing playground if you have children, you can also walk around the hill and go up to the summit if you're looking for a morning or afternoon walking place, and there are cows and sheep (sometimes even lambs) dotted around the park in fenced areas you can admire! Cornwall Park Cafe is a great breakfast/and or coffee spot too. Plenty of space for kids to run around and for adults to relax and take in the beautiful greenery in.
Sylvia Park is a great mall to check out. Not only do they have shopping if that's what you're after, but they also have great dining options. Sylvia Lane is their restaurant area, which contains a strip of excellent restaurant options for lunch and dinner. Our favourite is Vietflames if you're after Vietnamese, Master Kong for Asian Fusion, and Casablanca for Mediterranean. There is also a Time Zone (Arcade) upstairs beside the Hoyts Cinema (both great options for a rainy day).
Auckland's viaduct is a great option if you're wanting to have a nice lunch or dinner out. You can take a walk along the water front, and Wynyard Quarter is just a walk over the bridge if you wanted to check out their food options too (they have a lovely view of the water as well)! Our favourite places to eat at the Viaduct are St Alice's, Oyster and Chop, and Hello Beasty. But there are plenty more to choose from there as well! There is also Holy Moly here, which is an awesome indoor Mini Golf and Putt Putt, and great option for both adults and kids, and a great rainy weather option too!
This is in the New Market Westfield mall. It has bumper cars, an arcade, ten pin bowling, and a restaurant all in one place! Perfect for a rainy day, and great for both adults and kids! For ten pin bowling here we recommend booking or calling ahead in advance.
Waiheke island is a truly beautiful place to visit on a sunny day. You catch the ferry from downtown Auckland or Devonport, and enjoy a beautiful ferry ride over to the island. There is a small township with various shops and restaurants, and other restaurants and shops dotted all over the island as well. Waikehe has multiple beaches with immense beauty, and it is known for its wineries. You can get a hop on hop off bus pass to explore the island. With multiple places to dine in, explore and sip wine you will have an incredible day. We recommend checking out any of the wineries but these are some of our favourites: Mudbrick, Stonyridge, Cable Bay, Wild Estate, and Batch Winery. We recommend checking out Oneroa Bay and Onetangi Bay, and also you can go to EcoZip for Zip Lining and a Native Forrest walk! You can hire E-bikes to get around the island as well if you would prefer that style of transport.
