Ha Long Bay has the most captivating scenery. It holds a special energy that you just cannot describe in words. As we embarked on our cruise, I was clueless to the milestone moment about to happen, and Nikul was trying to secretly plan the engagement set up with the boat staff without being too obvious. Not to mention a slight language barrier! As we checked into our room, I was so surprised that we got so lucky to get the best cabin on the boat! I couldn't stop beaming to Nikul about how crazy it was that we of all people got so lucky. Little did I know, Nikul had made this upgrade, and this would soon become one of the most special days of our life. We spent the day taking in the incredible views, and even got to go kayaking which made us both feel close to my dad, who is no longer with us. The evening came, and Nikul insisted we get dressed up to take some nice photos together. I was confused because the sun had already set, but obliged anyways. He took me up to the top story of the ship, and was about to begin his proposal speech when I started talking to an older couple, and as many of you know, when I start talking I don't tend to stop! I could see Nikul acting strange, and my heart started racing a little when the ship manager came up and asked to speak to Nikul about something privately. When Nikul returned I asked what he wanted to speak to him about and he replied "oh he wanted me to try this fruit I haven't tasted before". My mind was telling me something strange was going on, but I wouldn't let myself believe it was a proposal. Nikul had spent the last 3 months making sure I suspected nothing by telling me he would absolutely not be proposing on our trip and to not get my hopes up. Finally I finished my conversation with the couple, and Nikul got his chance to sit down and begin his proposal speech. Which I still had no idea was a proposal speech. When he was finished I said to Nikul "That's really sweet, but are you okay?". I still was not letting myself be convinced it was really happening! He insisted we go get another drink, and even though my drink was still full he took my hand and walked me down the spiral staircase to the middle deck. As we turned the corner, I saw the proposal set up, and heard the Ed Sheeran song 'Thinking Out Loud' begin. I was in disbelief. The other passengers on the ship were all sitting there staring at us waiting for the proposal that would actually be OURS! Nikul walked me down, got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him. That and the massive 'Marry Me?' balloons which he specifically asked that they didn't do, but because of the language barrier absolutely did! I was so shocked I forgot to answer his question! He said "Well is it a yes?". And I replied "Oh yes of course!". I can never describe the feeling I felt in that moment. Both because I was so shocked it was actually happening, and also because the fact it was actually happening was so surreal and special. It was one of the happiest days in our lives. And now we cannot wait to create a few more of the most special and happy days in our lives with you all as we actually get to celebrate getting married!
