Morgan and Ben met like many modern couples... ON HINGE! However, there is a bit of a (lemon) twist. Morgan was working as a director at the Ocean City Theater Company and decided to have a lil date in South Jersey. Ben, being the gentleman he is, had given Morgan his "virtual rose" (a feature on the app that showed a suitor was particularly interested in chatting!). Morgan struck up a conversation about red wine (a shared interest) which led to the couple's first date at Josie Kelly's in Somers Point. Morgan told her mom (who dropped her off on the date) that she was wearing her sneakers and fanny pack because if he didn't like me in that, then it wasn't a match and that she would be back in about 20 minutes... Upon meeting Ben, Morgan's first impression was, "Wow, he's quite hot" and talked AT him until she got her shy guy to talk back. Ben was immediately hooked. Seldom at a loss for words, he was so enamored with Morgan he fumbled with the drink order he wanted to make to sound cool. Morgan let him try again (it was two Manhattans). It had become chilly by the end of the date and Morgan waited for her Uber in Ben's car--he did not make a move. By the end of their first drink, their lives were changed forever. Through many jobs, NJtransit rides (shout out to the 319 bus!!!), traveling adventures, snacks, and cat snuggles... a dozen lemons make their appearance in the story. So, there’s this movie (ironically called “The Breakup”) that surprisingly has excellent relationship advice—there’s a whole argument about doing the dishes that merits its own dissection, but that’s for another day. In the movie, Jennifer Aniston asks Vince Vaughn to buy 12 lemons for a centerpiece. Vaughn returns home with 4, believing he has successfully realized the errand. An argument ensues over the quantity of lemons and their function at the dinner party. While Morgan and Ben quote this movie quite a bit, the message is that they always give each other “12 lemons,” however those lemons may manifest. Starting in October of 2022, Ben carved out lemons and placed a note inside, which was followed by a gift. The 12th note was “Marry me?” The 12th gift was the ring. Ben and Morgan are tying the knot in the very city that brought them together back in the summer of 2021. We hope you will join them in Ocean City to celebrate the happiest day of their lives!
