Officially, we met on a dating app called Hinge. Unofficially, our circles overlapped. We sent a lot of long texts back and forth for a few days and then scheduled our first date at a coffee shop. As Sarah tells it: "Immediately after getting in the car, I knew, and deleted Hinge forever." Less than a week later, we were officially dating!
Video games are our main thing. So far, we've played (either together or forced the other to play): The Wind Waker, Breath of the Wild, Control, Portal (ask Sarah about her love/hate relationship with this one), It Takes 2, Divinity 2, and I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting. Sarah really likes board games and gets Stephen to play every now and again (although mostly with friends). Stephen is learning to master chess while Sarah is...not (aka I lose). Separately, Stephen loves to learn through books, YouTube, etc. and Sarah loves to bake (although this is largely stress-driven).
This was our 3rd date and the one where we became official. All credit goes to Stephen here. We went to a berry patch and picked strawberries. And then we baked shortcake. This should have been easy: mix the things, bake it, enjoy. But we didn't have a mixer or a big enough bowl, so we had to improvise. And then the pan was weird so it took forever to bake. Was this secretly a plan by Stephen to spend the entire day together?? Anyway, while the shortcake was baking, we just sat and talked. And then we ate strawberry shortcake and talked. And then we sat and talked some more. And the minutes turned into hours, and the rest is history.
