Cross Country Skiing and Snowshoeing
There are around 20 miles of groomed XC ski trails for both skate and classic, as well as snowshoeing right outside your door when staying at the Izaak Walton Inn. Don't want to fly with your skies? No problem-you can rent them right on site!
Lake McDonald Lodge in Glacier National Park
You can take the Going to the Sun road as far as Lake McDonald Lodge in the winter. The lodge is not open, but you can enjoy cross country skiing or snowshoeing across the lake or using the marked trails beyond the closed road (must bring your own gear or rent from LOGE). There may be a park entrance fee, depending on if the kiosk is manned (typically isnt in the winter).
Whitefish Mountain Resort
If you prefer faster downhills, go check out Whitefish Mountain Resort. This is the ski hill where Kira grew up skiing and both her and Trenton have enjoyed many days at. This mountain has options for all experience levels. There are rentals available onsite. Also the town of Whitefish is fun to explore!

Whitefish is a well known town for good reason, enjoy shopping, good food and pretty views! If you have an extra night, one of our favorite restaurants is Wasabi-a well known Sushi restaurant. If you want a local bar scene, check out The Great Northern.
