Good Hotel Antigua

This beautiful, modern Dutch designed hotel is just a 30 second walk from the house we have rented (see Kuxtal Hermano Pedro below). They offer a delicious breakfast and source their ingredients, materials and labor locally. Good Hotel is also a social business, meaning their excess profits go to good causes around the world, such as education for local children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend school. We suggest booking your room for Saturday through Tuesday either through the website below or by calling directly.

Extend your trip with us! We will be taking a roughly 2 hour car shuttle to Lake Atitlan, a beautiful volcanic lake, to relax and explore. We will be staying until Thursday afternoon.

La Casa del Mundo

Widely renowned as one of Guatemala's most magical hotels, each of the traditionally styled 19 bedrooms were built into the lake's cliff sides one by one over the past 20 years. Casa del Mundo is the perfect place to relax and enjoy Lake Atitlan's beauty. The hotel offers lakeside balconies to swim from and hammocks to read or take a nap. There is also a wood fired hot tub, a traditional Temazcal sauna, and kayaks and stand up paddle boards. Rooms have already been reserved, and payment will be taken at the property at the end of your stay. The rooms are very affordable, but for more detailed info on rates, you can visit the hotel website below. An important item to note is that the hotel only accepts Guatemalan currency, USD, or Venmo. If paying with USD, be aware that many areas around Atitlan generally only accept larger bills (i.e. $20, $50, and $100). From previous experience, the hotel offers a very good exchange rate if paying through Venmo.

Villa Patziac

We've also rented this 4 bedroom AirBnB just a 10 minute walk or 1 minute Lancha (boat) ride from the hotel. The house has kayaks, paddleboards, a sauna, and a pizza oven! We plan to do a homemade pizza night and bring in a local Mayan chef for another dinner. Anyone who is interested can come be together and dine with us as a family.

Shuttle to Airport or Antigua

For those heading home on Friday, there will be a shuttle arranged to take you to your hotel in Guatemala City. This will roughly be a 3 hour drive. For those hiking Volcán Acatenango with us on Friday, the shuttle will take us back the 2 hours to Antigua, as this is the location our tour will leave from.

Located in the developed Zone 10 of Guatemala City, this hotel is surrounded by delicious restaurants and stores. It is also a convenient 10 minute Uber from La Aurora International Airport.

Travel Note

Wicho and Charlies - Volcan Acatenango

For those up for a challenge and a once in a lifetime experience, we will be hiking Volcán Acatenango (or taking a 4x4) and staying the night overlooking an active volcano! There will also be the additional option to hike onto Volcán de Fuego, the active volcano that erupts every few minutes. While this can be a physically demanding experience, we will share tips to prepare, as it is an amazing experience! More details for booking will be shared at a future date.
