Hotel
We are asking all guests to stay at Castello del Trebbio from September 14 - September 17. We’ve booked the entire property for the wedding week, and the housing accommodations are complimentary, courtesy of the King family. The venue has several villas across the property and you will be assigned a room(s) at one of the villas at check-in. Check-in will be afternoon of September 14, and check-out will be the morning of September 17. Additional details regarding check-in and check-out will be provided closer to the wedding date.
Travel Note
There are two ways to get to Castello del Trebbio: 1) Shuttle 2) Rental car SHUTTLE Rachel and Joe will be renting shuttle vans from the train station (Santa Maria Novella) and/or the airport (Amerigo Vespucci), depending on guest arrivals to Florence, to Castello del Trebbio. Times will be determined closer to the wedding date but will be departing approximately between 2-3pm on Monday, September 14th. When formal invitations are sent in Spring 2026, you will be asked to provide arrival details and sign-up for the shuttle service so we can ensure there are enough shuttles for everyone. RENTAL CAR You can rent cars from the airport (Amerigo Vespucci) and train station (Santa Maria Novella). Rachel and Joe rented from Sixt at the train station and would recommend to use this company. Although the rental car companies may not ask, make sure you get an International Drivers License. You cannot get this online and will need to visit a AAA location. When driving throughout Florence, and throughout Italy, there are zones where you will not be able to drive (ZTL zones), and if you accidentally enter those zones you may receive hefty fines in the mail so avoid driving close to the Florence city center. Also, people drive significantly faster in Italy and the roads to Castello del Trebbio are narrow with no formal lanes, so we only recommend getting a rental car if you are a confident driver. If you have questions about driving to the venue, please reach out to Rachel and Joe. Note that the cars are much smaller than in the US so if you plan on renting a car with several people please take the number of bags into account.
Travel Note
TAXIS Taxis are the most recommended way to get around the city of Florence. Florence is very walkable city, but you can easily get a taxi from the airport or train station. Both the airport and train station have designated taxi areas where you can easily hail a taxi. However, we would not recommend using taxis to get to/from the venue. Although the venue is only a few miles from center city Florence, it is not guaranteed you would be able to schedule a taxi to pick you up from the venue. Additionally, the cost can be approximately $80 one-way to the venue. Lastly, there are two main taxi services in Florence (appTaxi and TaxiMove). We recommend downloading the apps on your phone, this is how you can call or schedule service. Most taxis do take credit card but make sure you do have euros on hand just in case there are issues with the service. UBERS Ubers are used in Florence, but they only allow Uber Blacks (licensed drivers), which increases the cost of getting an uber. We would only recommend an uber as a last resort. Similar to taxis, we would not recommend getting an Uber to the venue due to the cost (approximately $150 one-way) and there is no guarantee you will be able to schedule the service. TRAM There is a tram service in Florence. There is an airport line, which can take you directly to/from the train station. This cost only a few dollars, and we would recommend using this if you plan on arriving in Florence a day or two early and need to get from the airport to center city, but would not recommend if you have several large bags as this can get crowded and there is not a designated baggage space.

Europe and the UK are implementing travel visas. Both visas will cost a few dollars and last up to 3 years. The application process is only expected to take a few minutes as well (will receive the visa within minutes of submission). The UK travel visa went into effect in January 2025 and requires any traveler going to or passing through (even layovers) to have an ETA (electronic travel authorization). You will only need this visa if you have a layover traveling to/from Italy. The Europe visa implementation date is still TBD but is expected to go live in 2026.
