Zach was a camp counselor and Kimmy worked as an aide for a student with autism. They hardly talked to each other for three summers beyond "It's time for lunch" or "Can we go outside?" The word got around at the summer camp that Kimmy was quitting before starting grad school in August. On Kimmy's second to last day of work, Zach nervously asked her on a date and almost forgot to get her number! They started dating and spent the last five years adventuring, surviving long distance for a year, and getting a dog together.
Zach planned the perfect surprise proposal at the Soderberg Family tradition of the Indy 500 with both their families present. Kimmy had briefly thought he might propose at dinner the night before the race, but then quickly forgot about it as the excitement of race day came! Early on race day morning, Zach got everyone to gather up in the stands to take pictures like they do every year. When it was Kimmy and Zach's turn to get their picture in front of the track, Zach got down on one knee and proposed! It was perfect. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you all. See you in Stoughton!
