Mexico City has everything from street food and corner cafés to Michelin-star restaurants and world famous bars. Half the fun is just stumbling upon something, but if you want to save time Googling, here are some popular picks.

Breakfast/Cafes

Mix of bakeries and sit down.

Lardo (Condesa) – Bright café that’s always busy for breakfast. Panadería Rosetta (Roma Norte) – Known for its guava roll and other pastries, line gets long! Cicatriz Café (Roma Norte) – Chill café with a great vibe. Maque (Condesa) – Patio spot across from Parque México, great for people watching.


Lunch/Dinner

Mix of casual and formal - research for if a res is needed!

Contramar (Roma Norte) – Busy seafood spot, famous for their tuna tostadas and grilled fish. Mi Compa Chava (Roma Norte) – Lively location with big seafood platters and ceviche, casual atmosphere. Masala y Maíz (Juárez) – Creative mix of Mexican, Indian, and African flavors. Tacos Orinoco (Roma Norte) – Very popular taco spot with fun options. El Califa (Condesa) – Classic spot for al pastor and bistec tacos.

CDMX is home to some of the top cocktail bars in the world!

Handshake Speakeasy (Juárez) – Tiny hidden bar with super creative cocktails, reservation recommended. Licorería Limantour (Roma Norte) – Iconic Mexico City cocktail spot, reservation recommended. Baltra Bar (Condesa) – Cozy bar, walk-ins usually okay. Hanky Panky (Juárez) – Speakeasy vibes and fun, over-the-top drinks, reservation highly recommended (done via Facebook). Walk-ins will have a wait in a hole in the wall restaurant in the front (usually only OK for a small group). Tlecan (Roma Norte) – Mezcal bar, walk-ins usually okay but is on the smaller side. Ling Ling (Polanco) – Rooftop bar at the Ritz with an amazing view. Reservation recommended. Supra Roma (Roma Norte) – Rooftop hookah and cocktail bar, amazing views and good for tapas / fun dinner atmosphere. Reservations recommended for weekend evenings.
