FAQs

Question

Do I need a passport and visa?

Answer

Yes. U.S. citizens need a valid passport and, starting April 2025, a tourist visa to enter Brazil. You can apply on your own or Jackie can assist (email: jacqueline@sevenviagens.com).

Question

What’s the dress code?

Answer

Formal Attire. Evening gowns (floor-length), tailored suits, or classic tuxedos. Dress to impress — it’s going to be a magical night!

Question

Do I have to join all the planned activities?

Answer

Not at all! You can come just for the wedding day or join us for all the optional fun.

Question

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

We want you to have the best time — so that’s totally up to you! Whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Want to drop the kiddos off at the grandparents for the week? Let’s party! Got separation anxiety? We get it — there will be a kid-friendly room at the venue with two babysitters during the wedding, so they’ll be well taken care of while you enjoy yourself.

Question

What if I can’t make it?

Answer

We’ll miss you dearly, but we totally understand. Just please RSVP honestly so we can plan accordingly.

Question

What's the weather like and what should I pack?

Answer

Brazil is in the Southern Hemisphere, so the seasons are opposite from the U.S. That means April is their fall — expect warm, sunny days (think mid-70s to low 80s°F), with a light chill in the evenings. Pack like you’re heading to New England in September: Day: casual, breathable clothes, comfortable walking shoes Night: bring a light jacket or sweater, especially for any outdoor events That said, in Brazil people tend to dress up just a bit more than we do casually in the U.S. So, we will likely do a nice dinner one evening — think elevated but not formal: Men: collared shirt & pants (no tie or blazer needed) Women: flowy dress, chic jumpsuit, or something nice for a restaurant

Question

Currency, Credit Cards & Tipping

Answer

The currency in Brazil is the Brazilian Real (R$). All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) are widely accepted, so you shouldn’t run into any issues. If you'd like to have some cash on hand for small purchases or tips, we recommend ordering Brazilian Reais from your bank before traveling. Tipping is appreciated but not always expected. In restaurants, a 10% service fee is often already included on the bill — check before adding more. For drivers, hotel staff, or excursions, feel free to tip at your discretion!

Question

How will I get around in Brazil?

Answer

Transportation is easy! Uber is widely used and very popular in Brazil, especially in cities like Belo Horizonte. You can use the same Uber app you use in the U.S., and it works just like it does at home — no need to download anything new. For events that don’t include group transportation or a shuttle, Uber is a great, affordable option to get around safely and conveniently.
