Travel Note
We recommend staying within Savannah's Historic District for hotels, or checking out the beach houses on Tybee Island. The safest areas of town will be between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to the west, Price Street to the east, River Street to the north and Gaston Street to the south (the start of Forsyth Park). The areas around SCAD's freshman housing are also okay. If you need recommendations or thoughts on a particular hotel or area, please reach out to Kim or Simon. Walkable hotels to Soho South are mentioned below; please note, there may be parking fees for the hotel parking garages / valet parking. - Hampton Inn & Suites, 603 W Oglethorpe Ave, Savannah, GA 31401 - Embassy Suites, 605 W Oglethorpe Ave, Savannah, GA 31401 - SpringHill Suites, 150 Montgomery St, Savannah, GA 31401 - Courtyard by Marriott, 415 W Liberty St, Savannah, GA 31401 If you think you'll be partying hard, please consider staying at the DeSoto Hotel (15 E Liberty, Savannah, GA 31401) across the street from our venue, Soho South. We want everyone to be safe and feel comfortable visiting Savannah!
Flight
The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is about a 20-30 minute drive to downtown Savannah and is located in Pooler, GA. If you're opting to fly, this airport is a low-key option as compared to Atlanta (and much closer!). Lower priced accommodations may be found by the airport.
Train
If you live near an Amtrak station, it's a great option! Kim has taken the train from Savannah back north, and it was a great alternative to driving. The Silver Star, Silver Meteor, and Palmetto lines run to the Savannah station. Please note, there are no car rentals at the Amtrak station and arrangements would need to be made to acquire one (unless you Uber or Lyft into Savannah and camp out there for your stay - it's very walkable!).
