Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Kimberlyn Curtis and Simon Madhavan
There are so many things to do, see, and eat in Savannah and the surrounding coastal towns! If there's anything in particular you'd really like to see or do, please reach out to Kim, Laura or Gabby for recommendations. Find a mix of food, recreation, and history recommendations below.
Forsyth Park

Forsyth Park

Savannah, GA 31401

If there's one outdoor thing you need to see while in Savannah, you have to see Forsyth Park! The iconic white fountain graces the middle of Forsyth Park, and a fragrance garden and satellite café of the Collin's Quarter is a nice place for quick eats. Enjoy a walk around the park, and take in Savannah's beautiful architecture. (And no, the bench from Forrest Gump isn't there!)

Tybee Island

Tybee Island

Tybee Island, GA 31328

Land-locked friends, rejoice! Spend a day or two or five visiting the beach! Tybee Island hosts a plethora of fun events (including SCAD's Sand Arts Festival), and is much more relaxing than nearby Hilton Head. Enjoy some fresh seafood from the ocean-side restaurants and soak up the sun.

Leopold's Ice Cream

Leopold's Ice Cream

212 East Broughton Street, Savannah, GA 31401

When it doubt, get ice cream! Leopold's is a Savannah classic and if you love ice cream it's a must-eat! Just maybe get a single scoop - they're giant and delicious! Leopold's is also owned by a Hollywood producer and his film posters hang in the ice cream parlor.

Bonaventure Cemetery

Bonaventure Cemetery

330 Bonaventure Road, Thunderbolt, GA 31404

Did you know Kim used to volunteer at Bonaventure Cemetery's Visitor Center while she went to SCAD? It's true! Visit the beautiful Historic Area along the banks of the Wilmington River and see why Bonaventure was coveted as a final resting place. Famous folks such as singer Johnny Mercer and Poet-Laureate Conrad Aiken; don't forget to visit Little Gracie for her beautiful sculpture carved from an actual photo of her in 1889.

River Street Savannah Georgia

River Street Savannah Georgia

River Street, Savannah, GA 31401

Discover Savannah's romantic charm on River Street and Bay Street, and the new Plant Riverside District. Enjoy fancy hotels, shopping, historic buildings and some of the steepest historic stairs you've ever seen in this historic area! We recommend Vinnie Van GoGo's for cheap pizza in nearby City Market if you're looking for snacks.

The Collins Quarter

The Collins Quarter

151 Bull Street, Savannah, GA 31401

Fancy drinks and fancy desserts? Just trust us on this one!

The Ordinary Pub

The Ordinary Pub

217 1/2 West Broughton Street, Savannah, GA 31401

We love love loved the Moscow mules here, and you feel quite sly at this hidden gem.

Ships Of The Sea Maritime Museum

Ships Of The Sea Maritime Museum

41 Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard, Savannah, GA 31401

This little hole-in-the-wall museum is full of model ships crafted in incredible detail. It's easy to spend an afternoon just looking at them all! It's a relatively inexpensive museum to visit and is worth the trip if model ships interest you.

Georgia State Railroad Museum

Georgia State Railroad Museum

655 Louisville Road, Savannah, GA 31401

The Georgia State Railroad Museum is a fun place to walk around and look at the trains! It's a little different from the typical museums in cities, and the brickwork is beautiful.

Fort Pulaski National Monument

Fort Pulaski National Monument

101 Fort Pulaski Road, Savannah, GA

Calling all history buffs! Fort Pulaski was active during the Civil War and helped Union soldiers force the Confederates inside of the fort to surrender. There are remnants of cannonballs hitting the sides of the fort that can still be seen today, and there is a short trail that goes to the Cockspur Island Lighthouse.

Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island

GA 31527

For those looking for some adventures further south, the Golden Isles are home to Jekyll Island and its iconic driftwood beach. Used in films and movies (like The Walking Dead), this island has a beautiful driftwood-covered beach and is home to the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.

Cumberland Island National Seashore

Cumberland Island National Seashore

Plum Orchard Drive, St. Marys, GA 31558

Our furthest recommended destination for folks staying a couple extra days is to take a ferry to visit Cumberland Island National Seashore. Located near Jekyll Island in the Golden Isles, Cumberland Island has free-roaming horses and armadillos, a campground, beautiful beaches and ruins of a mansion that once stood on the southern end of the island. Plan for a full day on the island; ferry or private boat are the only ways onto the island.
