The Guinness Storehouse is the #1 tourist attraction in Ireland. This is a must-do for those who are staying in Dublin. The tour walks guests through the history of Guinness, the brewing process, the evolution of their advertising amongst more! You end the tour with a free pint at the rooftop gravity bar (don't worry you can always purchase a second pint... or third ;) ). The Gravity bar provides one of the best panoramic views of Dublin. This is a great activity even for those who don't particularly like the black stuff (aka those lacking taste). Kim really enjoyed the tour her first time in Ireland and looks forward to going back before our wedding. We are tentatively planning on organizing a day the week before our wedding to go to the storehouse so we can enjoy it together. We'll provide more details as we get closer.
Temple bar is an American tourist's dream. The area is filled with multiple pubs that play live music. Some of our favorite pubs in Temple bar are The Dubliner, Quay, and of course the Temple Bar.
St. Stephen's Green is a beautiful park in the middle of Dublin City Center and where we got engaged! We recommend our guests take the time to take a stroll through the park while they are in town.
The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript depicting the four Gospels of the Christian New Testament, written in Latin. Its survival for over 1,200 years is remarkable, but what truly sets it apart is the unparalleled beauty of its artwork. While other illuminated manuscripts exist, the Book of Kells stands apart due to the sheer complexity and beauty of its ornamentation. More elaborately adorned than any other manuscript from its era, it’s often described as the “work of angels.” The intricate lettering, vibrant portraits, and elaborate Celtic motifs have inspired awe for centuries. Each page reveals a wealth of detail, with some illustrations so finely crafted that they are barely visible to the naked eye.
For our hiking lovers, the Howth Cliff walk is one of our favorite hikes in Ireland. Howth is a small village about a 40 minute drive from the city center. You can also get there via the Dart (Train service) from the city center. Besides the beautiful views on the hike, Howth has many cozy pubs and delicious restaurants. Weather permitting, we will planning a day out in Howth either Tuesday or Wednesday the week before our wedding. All are welcome! We will provide more details as the day comes closer.
Glendalough is the #2 most popular tourist attraction in Ireland and one of our favorite places in the country. Glendalough is a short scenic 30 minute drive through the Wicklow mountains from the Powerscourt hotel. You can also take a tour to Glendalough from Dublin City Center for those who will not have a car readily available. Glendalough boasts incredible hikes and amazing scenery. We highly recommend our guests visit while they are in Wicklow!
Johnnie Fox's Pub is the highest pub in Ireland nestled in the middle of the Wicklow mountains. The pub is world renowned and is a great place to grab dinner, drinks, and watch some Irish Dancing. Johnnie Fox's is about 20 minutes away from the Powerscourt.
Our wedding will be held at the Powerscourt Hotel, which is located on the Powerscourt estate. There is plenty to do on the Powerscourt Estate outside of the hotel. Powerscourt House & Gardens - Located 5 minutes away from the hotel, the Powerscourt house & garden is a stunning historic house that sports the #3 most beautiful gardens in the world. Enjoy a beautiful walk around the breathtaking grounds and finish up with a delicious meal at Avoca located inside the Powerscourt House. Powerscourt Distillery - The distillery is located right next to the house & gardens, a short 5 minute walk. A worthwhile place to check out for any whiskey lovers. Powerscourt Golf Club - Across from the hotel is the Powerscourt Golf Club that has two 18-hole courses. The golf club is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Powerscourt Waterfall - About a five minute drive away from the hotel; however, the Powerscourt hotel offers a shuttle service that will bring guests there. Definitely worth a visit.
Enniskerry is the small town outside of the Powerscourt estate. There are a few pubs and restaurants, as well as walking trails. For Disney lovers, Enniskerry is where Disenchanted was filmed.
