Two people from cities full of bridges decided to cross one more. From very different worlds, we took a leap of faith, leaving behind the familiar to find each other in Tampa Bay. One funny, the other delightfully goofy, somehow fitting together perfectly. What started as two separate lives colliding became something even better; a blended family, young adults in tow, building a new chapter together. When Scott decided it was time to propose, he took the traditional route and asked for Kim’s hand in marriage. He planned the proposal during their trip to Columbia; choosing a place neither of them had explored before. His plan was the perfect distraction, after all, who would ever suspect a proposal on his own birthday? But the night before Scott’s 43rd birthday brought unexpected worry. Kim’s dad had to undergo surgery, leaving everyone anxious and hoping for the best. Thankfully, the morning of Scott’s birthday brought the news everyone was praying for, a successful outcome and a huge wave of relief. That day, the celebration continued just as planned with some highlights and hiccups. Scott climbed El Peñón one of the largest rock formation in Central America, while Kim was semi- attacked by Llama's and was not fond of the new airbnb they checked into. No fault of Scotts, but Scott rearranged furniture, lit candles, got the music going and waited for sundown so they can really enjoy the view of the city. Something that drew them to the Airbnb in the first place! Like they always do, Scott and Kim were recording themselves while getting ready to hit the town and saving a little money by taking a few pre-game shots at home. Kim noticed Scott’s hand shaking but assumed he might already be feeling those birthday shots. Little did she know… it wasn’t the drinks. It was the nerves, and in a place that neither of them had visited before, Scott’s birthday became the night their story took its next big step, making Columbia a place that will forever hold a special place in their hearts. Sometimes the biggest bridges we cross lead us exactly where we were meant to be.
