We LOVE Battery Park! Battery Park features 20 rotating beer bar taps showcasing the very best of Nova Scotia’s Craft Beer lineup. They also have an excellent menu (their ACE burgers are delicious) and we love their staff. Unfortunately Battery doesn't take reservations. Kim's Menu Pick : Miso Ginger Salad, Jughead Burger and whatever stout is on tap Dylan' Menu Pick : Fish Taco & Nachos
A Saturday or Sunday afternoon at Lakecity Cider is for the dogs. No, really, it is. Stop in for fresh-pressed cider from Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley or a pint of Darty IPA, and you’ll quickly see what we mean. Dogs run around playing while their humans sip a drink, catch up with friends, or play a game of cards. Grab a seat by the windows to watch downtown Dartmouth go by, or head out to the patio to soak up the sun. This is one of our go-to weekend spots. After a few hours of Dartmouth errands, we’ll usually end up here with a pint and a friendly dog to pat. Kim's Pick : Crisp Apple Cider Dylan's Pick : Spice Up Your Life
We’re pretty sure it’s impossible to have a bad meal here. Seriously. The Canteen serves chef-inspired dishes for lunch, dinner, and Saturday brunch, all made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Beyond the food, they are deeply community-oriented. During the pandemic, they served 500 meals a week to those in need and continue to support youth employment, fundraise for local non-profits, and support families during the holiday season. Kim & Dylan's Menu Choice: The Canteen Burger
The local watering hole. The type of place you can’t go without running into someone you know. Celtic is an Irish pub that offers live music on weekends, along with a solid tap list and a menu of pub classics. Kim's Choice: A pint of Kilkenny and an order of mozza sticks Dylan's Choice: Fish & Chips
Our favourite restaurant in the province, our go-to New Year’s Eve spot, and the number one place we recommend to friends visiting Halifax for the first time. The Narrows Public House is a traditional Nova Scotian public house in the heart of the North End, operating out of a circa-1896 heritage home (the H.R. Silver House) that has been carefully restored to its original character. With two wood stoves and three separate rooms offering different seating experiences, the space is filled with Nova Scotia memorabilia and unmistakable charm. The menu features elevated takes on classic comfort food, including boiled dinner and hodge podge, bologna sandwiches, flat-top cheeseburgers, fish and chips, diner classics, and pub favourites. Kim’s pick : Rum Punch and Chicken Fricot. Dylan's Pick : Fried Chicken Sandwich
A Halifax staple, Durty Nelley's is a true Irish pub. The bar itself was designed and built in Ireland, then shipped to Halifax to anchor the space. Named after the original Durty Nelly’s in Ireland, the pub features daily live music, and on Sundays hosts a traditional afternoon ceilidh with Irish dancers and a traditional Irish prime rib roast. We love heading to Nelley's for a beer before live sporting events, or a late-night drink while listening to a band. Kim's Picks : The seafood chowder (one of the best in the city) and a Guinness. Dylan's Picks : Pulled Pork Sandwich
Known for its welcoming atmosphere and cozy vibe, the Wooden Monkey has been a staple in the Downtown Dartmouth community for over 20 years. The Dartmouth location offers a beautiful waterfront view and is conveniently located in the same building as the ferry terminal. The Wooden Monkey prides itself on using fresh, local, and organic ingredients, with a strong focus on sustainability and supporting Nova Scotia farmers and producers. The menu highlights the best of what the region has to offer. The Wooden Monkey is always our go-to recommendation for friends and family who want to eat out but have dietary restrictions, as the menu includes many vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. Kim's Picks: Korean Tacos and a Blueberry Lavender Mojito Dylan's Pick : Hot Honey Pizza
