Technically we met on our first date at Foxcroft Wine Bar in Charlotte. We sipped and ate small plates until we realized that the place was closing. We both felt like we weren't quite ready for the night to end so we went for ice cream and talked until... this place also closed. Closing down restaurants, breweries, etc. was kind of our thing in the first months of dating. What can we say... when you find "the one" it's hard to call it a night! Okay...okay... we met on Tinder (and Bumble).
Unbeknownst to Kimberlee, Joe had been planning the perfect engagement for months. But to no one's surprise, Kimberlee did not make this an easy feat. On the day of the engagement, Kimberlee was determined to go to her usual barre class, not shower (against her mother's insistence on the phone), and get a Reuben from Common Market. Joe had slipped in the idea of an afternoon hike with Finnegan at Latta Nature Preserve. After getting sandwiches at Common Market (and sneakily packing a picnic and champagne bottles in his backpack), we were off. We walked along the lake taking in the sights and finally slowing down to soak in every minute after being on the go for so long. Coming to a point in our hike with a gorgeous view of the lake and no one in sight, Joe knew this was the perfect spot to pop the question... but uh oh, Kimberlee was still holding a bag of Finn's poop!? After being asked several times to "put down the poop", Kimberlee threw the bag and turned around to find Joe down on one knee with a ring box in hand. SHE SAID YES! We celebrated with a picnic in the woods of Common Market sandwiches, champagne and chocolates and let the shock of FOREVER settle in. Joe then let Kimberlee in on a few more surprises... that night, we would enjoy dinner and drinks at our favorite restaurant, Good Food, meet up with friends for celebratory drinks, and the next morning, Kimberlee's entire family was coming for a surprise brunch to celebrate!
