We met how most couples do these days - on a dating app. After swiping right, we had our first date in March 2017 and quickly planned date #2. But before that could happen, Tommy ruptured his achilles in a basketball tournament and spent the next 1.5 months recovering. On a sunny day in April, we walked (or hobbled, in Tommy's case) around Williamsburg, exploring used book shops and drinking coffee. We enjoyed talking and getting to know each other more, but ultimately weren't sure if we'd see each other again. Just a few days later, Tommy's achilles developed a bad infection and he had to go into surgery. But then 6/17/17 rolled around - the first day Tommy could wear normal shoes - and we had the most amazing third date and felt our first inklings that we were truly meant for each other. The rest, as they say, is history.
We always say to each other that we are the same person, or as one friend once put it: "You share the same nervous system!" From the start, we were surprised at how much we had in common, from our obsession with Game of Thrones, to our love of horror movies, to sharing the same values and dreams in life. We only differ in our football loyalties, but we've learned to deal. We've been fortunate enough to travel the world and share incredible moments together - skydiving in Long Island, hiking through the Pyrenees Mountains, swimming with dolphins in Eilat, biking along Pacific Beach, sledding in Leominster, surfing in Margate, building a home together in Brooklyn ... the list goes on and on! We are so excited for the adventures that lie ahead!
On July 29, 2018, we capped off the perfect vacation to Martha's Vineyard with a private sailboat ride. Right at sunset, we went to the bow of the boat and Tommy said, "This is where I ask you to marry me." He got down on one knee, and of course Kimmy said yes. Hugs, kisses and happy tears ensued. It was the most magical moment that we'll remember for the rest of our lives.
