Abizar & Kim met online (very 2021) on a dating app called Bumble. Abizar knew their first date was already off to a great start when Kim picked hibachi off the short list he offered for dinner options. The two met in person for the first time at Kobe Japanese Steakhouse, which quickly became their go-to spot for all their upcoming anniversaries, both big and small. Abizar & Kim both knew within the first few weeks of dating that they had found "the one".

Abizar & Kim had discussed marriage many times prior to the actual proposal, even going ring shopping together several weeks beforehand. Abizar had originally planned an entire day re-creating their first date during which he intended to propose (he even booked a photographer!), but when the ring came in early, he was too excited to wait. Abizar popped the question unexpectedly on a Monday night after Kim came home from work by hiding the empty ring box under her pillow and asking "is your pillow comfortable?" It took Kim a little while to catch on, but when she found the box she was sure he was just playing a joke on her since it was empty. Fully convinced all the excitement was over, Kim proceeded to turn over in bed and was shocked to find Abizar on one knee next to the bed with a ring in his hand (an introvert's dream!!). Without hesitation, she said yes (obviously). What most people don't know is that Kim had been planning a proposal of her own (we are not a big fan of gender norms in this household!). The following day, while Abizar was wrapping up work, Kim ran to Target to gather the supplies to set up a scavenger hunt around the house for him. She wrote clues in a series of romantic greeting cards, each taking him to a different spot in the house, that eventually led to the grill outside on their patio. When he opened the lid, he found a handwritten wood sign that read "Will you marry me (back)?" and turned around to find Kim on one knee with a ring of her own! The bride can confirm that her 6' 5" husband-to-be burst into tears instantly and fell to the floor to hug her and exclaim "of course I will!"
