Our story began in Cape Town — distant friends at the time, completely unaware of what the future had in store. Years later, in 2020, after life brought us both to Joburg, we found our way back to each other through a mutual friend (thank you, Jasanth!), who sneakily played matchmaker — and later, was the one who captured our engagement while hiding (not so secretly) in the bushes. From that moment on, our worlds intertwined. We shared long days and laughter with each other and our families between South Africa and Zimbabwe and more recently in the UK, built a warm little home together in Joburg, which has become a bustling airbnb with friends and family in and out all the time, and discovered a love for the same simple joys — the outdoors, fishing, forests, golf, cooking, and meals that always turn into memories (hot pot, ramen, sushi… and the country club, always). Darshil proposed at Silvermist Wine Farm in Cape Town, to Kilana’s absolute surprise, especially as she had planned the whole weekend (or so she thought!) and what followed was a season of celebration — first with our favourite people by our side in Cape Town, and then carried across Joburg, Pretoria, Durban, and Harare in the months that followed. In June 2025, a trip to the Midlands led us to our new favourite spot. After visiting 8 venues, we knew instantly. The quiet forest magic, uninterrupted views, serene lakes and multiple animals roaming around - Netherwood Farm felt like home. It is here, surrounded by friends and family from all over the world, that we’ll begin our next adventure!.
