You can find a million things to do on any travel website about New York, but here are some of the things that always remind us of the magic of this crazy city. Skip to the bottom for some restaurant recommendations.

Staten Island Ferry

4 Whitehall Street, New York, NY 10004

A ride on the Staten Island Ferry was one of the things we did the first week we lived in New York. Hop on just before sunset to view the Statue of Liberty with gorgeous lighting. Then on the way back you can see Manhattan begin to light up. It's FREE, so take advantage!

New York Transit Museum

99 Schermerhorn Street, Downtown Brooklyn, NY 11201

We think the Transit Museum might be the best bang for your buck museum in NYC! Wander through all the vintage train cars on an actual subway platform and read harrowing stories of the monumental construction project.

Brooklyn Bridge

New York, NY 10038

Michelle has done A LOT of research on the Brooklyn bridge, and you should not leave New York without walking across it. Here is a blurry photo of us in Brooklyn Bridge Park after our engagement dinner.

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

If you are an art lover, you cannot miss a trip to the MET, but make sure to plan a ton of time because the museum is huge. Here is a photo of us on our very first trip to the MET. This was the day we decided to move to New York!

The Met Cloisters

It may be a long trek uptown, but the museum, garden, and views will not disappoint. Go see some medieval art, and think about Michelle's job as you wander through a magnificent building.

Broadway Theatre

Go see a show! We highly recommend Hadestown and most recently saw Cabaret; both were fantastic.

Kings County Distillery

299 Sands Street, Brooklyn Navy Yard, NY 11205

This is a great, quiet bar in the Navy Yard. Go for a drink in the historic gatehouse or take a tour of NYC's oldest (legal) whiskey distillery. Here is a photo of us celebrating Michelle's birthday with friends at King's County!
