Our Story

Katie and Kieran met online. On their first date, they went out for Chinese food on the Upper West Side. While Kieran was so nervous he barely spoke, the two quickly bonded over their shared love of family, faith, and bad puns. A little over two years later, Kieran asked Katie to go to one of their favorite date night spots, Taqueria Tlaxcali in the Bronx. When they finished off their burittos, he suggested they go to a board game cafe called Hex & Co. As “Katie Queen of Tennessee” by The Apache Relay played, Kieran pulled out a homemade version of the board game Codenames, featuring photos of them and their beloved cat (and sometimes nemesis), Dilbert. He played the game with Katie and ended it by getting down on one knee, and saying, “I love you and want to keep eating Mexican food with you and doing this forever, will you marry me?” Katie was already crying, but was able to pull it together long enough to let out a pretty emphatic, “Yes!” Which is nice, because otherwise this would be a much sadder story. The original wedding was postponed due to COVID, but Katie and Kieran were married in a small ceremony with immediate family in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tulsa is just about exactly halfway between Baltimore and Los Angeles, so both families drove two days to meet in the middle of the country. While they would have loved to have everyone join them, the day was perfect, from the intimate wedding Mass, to sharing their first dance privately to Leon Bridges’ “Coming Home” played on Kieran’s phone. Katie and Kieran are excited to finally invite you to Chino Hills to celebrate their small wedding with a big ole bash.
