We first met in a study group for an Electrical Systems class in the Summer of 2013. Honestly, we didn’t talk much. Kiel was always either in biking gear or his Tropicana polo from his summer internship with his head down studying. At the end of the semester, I was invited to a welcome-back party for a friend of the study group I hadn’t met yet (hey Josh 👋🏻). I, unfortunately, had to work that night at the roller rink, but I said I would swing by after. When I arrived, Kiel opened the door before I reached the doorstep. He greeted me with his sweet smile and offered to pour me a beer. We ended up chatting and discovered that we were in the same major and classes. It was EVERY single class together. We began our relationship shortly after the party. Our introduction seemed coincidental at the time, but who knew that we would marry in the mountains of Colorado more than nine years later.
On our 1st Anniversary, Vittoria made a photo book reviewing our year together. Her Anniversary book inspired me, and I promised to make one for our next Anniversary. Shortly after, I moved to Atlanta for my first job after college, while Vittoria closed out her final year at USF. After graduating, she moved in, and we explored Atlanta for the next five years. In 2021, we moved to Littleton, Colorado, to live out our mountain dreams and enjoy the great outdoors. After nearly eight years together, I felt it was the right time to propose. I should have made a 2nd-anniversary book as I initially promised, but I didn’t. I thought making up for the missed books would make the perfect proposal. In preparation for proposing, I spent weeks scrapping Facebook, phone picture libraries, and Google Photos to organize photos by year. I built an Anniversary book covering all the missed years, with a page at the end asking Vittoria to be my adventure partner for life. We traveled to Salt Lake City for an early anniversary celebration at one of our favorite places. In the early afternoon, I asked Vittoria to sit on the couch with me so I could give her what she thought was an anniversary present. She opened the Anniversary Book: Year 2-8 and began reading. She was filled with emotions and was excited to read this long-awaited book. Caught up in her excitement, she automatically checked “yes” on the final page. She did not realize that this was where I would get on one knee and propose. Obviously, she said yes!
