Centro Histórico
Explore the historic Centro of Merida, start at Plaza Grande which is lined with restaurants, historical museums, and the city’s gorgeous Catedral de San Ildefonso. Thursday through Sunday, the center hosts free concerts and/or events at night that are great fun. If you are around sunset hour or after, make sure to check out Picheta rooftop.
Museo Casa Montejo
Located within the Plaza Grande, you can visit this beautifully preserved 16th Century home of Spanish conquistador Francisco de Montejo. Entry to the museum is free.
Paseo de Montejo
Stroll down Merida’s most famous boulevard lined with museums, restaurants, and shops. We recommend starting at Point 1, near Yerba Santa, and walking towards Calle 47 (the roundabout). We also recommend stopping in Yerba Santa which is a beautiful restaurant with stellar food and a lovely rooftop.
Corredor Gastronómico de Mérida
The Gastronomic Corridor of Merida is a vibrant, pedestrian-friendly dining and nightlife district spanning several blocks (most notably Calle 47 and Calle 60). Some of our favorite restaurants are: Ancestro Pedinche Hacienda Teya Bartolome Holoch
Speakeasy’s
Merida is known for its speakeasy’s and you can probably find them hidden all around the city. Below are a few of our favorites! Malahat (wooden door, blue wall Calle 55) Flamel (hidden door Calle 57) El Viento (inside Anima)
Cenotes
Nearby Merida are beautiful Cenotes in Homún or Santa Bàrbara. There are various reputable tours available on Viator.
Uxmal
