The first time I saw Khadijah was in our university training room when I was taking an ice bath after a hard practice. Khadijah and her friend came in shortly after, so I start making small talk. They seemed distant at first, but then the conversation started flowing. Once I finished, I asked for their information so we could talk more. It was a little weird, but it worked out fine. Two months later, I messaged her and we started talking every once in a while. I invited her to a few parties at the wrestling house, all of which she accepted but then bailed. I didn't think much of it. Then one day I invited her over to hang out. With 5 other dudes in the house, we went to my room for some privacy. I remember her sitting at the edge of my bed for hours as we talked, pretending like her back didn't hurt. We hung out just as friends for months before our first kiss. After that, we were hanging out several times a week and growing to like each other. After 8 months or so, Khadijah moved in with me, and my love for her grew deeper. Khadijah supported me throughout my senior year of wrestling, and I helped her during her first year as a nurse. After graduating, we moved to Washington and began building our tiny house. Khadijah got a job at Evergreen Health as a nurse in the ER and I worked on a farm as I was pursuing my dream of becoming a firefighter. After nine months of working on the tiny house, we moved in. The day after we moved in, I started my job with the Kirkland Fire Department; the same city Khadijah works in. This brought us even closer, as I was transporting patients directly to her. This work relationship set the stage for an amazing proposal. I coordinated a plan with my department and the hospital to transport a fake patient to her in the ER. After wheeling the patient into the room, I introduced the patient to her, and then began professing my love for her. She had no idea what was happening until I dropped to my knee and asked the big question.
