It all started when Khrystle's childhood pastor introduced Jonathan's family at a barbecue fellowship at her house. They didn't really get along too well because they both had very strong personalities. As the first born children of their families, Khrystle and Jonathan had a lot of ideas that often clashed. They lived separate lives and only really talked to each other at church. It wasn't the right time for them yet. God was still working on them to become better versions of themselves.

About four years after they had met, Jonathan began to pray for God's will for him. He had always noticed Khrystle, but he never thought about her in that way. During a Missions Conference at church, Jonathan had a great idea for a skit, but he wasn't there to direct and teach the youth. That's where Khrystle stepped in. She graciously volunteered to help Jonathan's vision come to life. When the youth group performed the skit, Jonathan had tears in his eyes. He couldn't believe that the girl who challenged him all the time helped his vision come true. He started praying for her specifically and eventually saw her true beauty. At the same time, a new ministry was developing in Los Angeles and God made it possible for Jonathan and Khrystle to work together with their families to help it grow. They were given the task to purchase a Christmas gift for the pastor. Jonathan texted Khrystle to meet her at an address after work. When they arrived, he said that they weren't going to eat there. He drove to Mt. Rubidoux and told her that dinner was at the top of the mountain. Khrystle was surprised because she had worn a nice dress and heels. Together, they walked up the mountain and at the top, Jonathan had prepared a picnic with Khrystle's favorites. While they were eating dinner as the sun set, Jonathan began to express his feelings for Khrystle. He said that he was praying for her and that he believed that she was God's will for him. Khrystle took his hand and smiled. That was the beginning of their fairytale.

Ten years after they first met and five years after they began their relationship, Jonathan knew that it was time to profess to the world his love for Khrystle. On August 31, Jonathan handed Khrystle a Tiffany & Co. box and told her not to open it until September 1 at midnight. She was so excited to see what was inside. When the alarm went off at midnight, Khrystle opened the box to reveal two park hopper tickets to Disneyland and California Adventure for her birthday. Jonathan had been giving her a lot of hints here and there about proposing. He took her dress and shoe shopping until they found a great ensemble. He even scheduled an appointment for her to get her nails done and to go to the spa at Disneyland. At that point, Khrystle started getting suspicious. On the morning of Khrystle's birthday, Jonathan arrived late for their Disneyland trip. She was upset because they only had two hours to be in the parks or else she would be late for her spa appointment. When they arrived, Jonathan spent a while waiting at City Hall for special buttons. When they got them, they ran to Sleeping Beauty's castle, got their pictures taken and rushed to Pixar Pier to use their MaxPasses for the Incredi-coaster and Guardians of the Galaxy rides. They had just enough time for a lunch at the Lamplight Lounge before the spa. After the great spa experience, Jonathan had another surprise for her - getting her makeup done at Sephora. The makeup artist was great. She was picture perfect for what was about to happen forty-five minutes later.

After getting dressed in the dress and shoes he got her, Khrystle and Jonathan arrived at the Summit House Restaurant in Fullerton. As they entered, he said he needed to use the restroom and disappeared. She was escorted by the manager to a secret room where her family was hiding. She then watched videos from friends and loved ones greeting her for her birthday. She started to cry already at this point. When the video ended, the manager escorted the family out of the room and told her that she had one more video to watch. It was a cute compilation of her favorite Disney films that were edited to reveal a secret message. After watching, she received a scroll that said to go outside. She opened a door to reveal a gorgeous arrangement of rose petals and hanging pictures of them throughout the years. While Jonathan spoke, their family and friends handed her twenty-eight balloons with their pictures. At this moment, Khrystle was crying tears of joy because she knew exactly what was going to happen next. She made it to the gazebo where Jonathan had prepared four gifts for her on a table with Mickey Mouse flower arrangements. Each gift had a special caption - a glass slipper, a tiara, and a rose in a bell jar. The last gift was in a treasure chest - or so she thought. He opened it to reveal her Bible that he had given her when they first started dating. There was also a Tiffany & Co. ring box, but the ring wasn't inside it! Instead it was a UV light which decoded a secret message he wrote in her Bible. As she was reading the message, their family and friends began to sing an acapella version "Can You Feel the Love Tonight." When she finished reading, Jonathan paused for what felt like forever and got down on one knee. He asked her to marry him. She cried and said, "Yes!" That was the best birthday present ever!
