Hunting Island State Park Beach
Hunting Island is a gorgeous, pristine Barrier Island state park and beach. We highly recommend a visit to view local flora and fauna, and experience an undeveloped barrier island beach day. Located approximately 20-25 minutes from downtown Beaufort, it makes an easy day trip. Entry is $8.00/per adult.
Cypress Wetlands
Located in Downtown Port Royal, a stroll through the Cypress Wetlands reveals the natural beauty of a Lowcountry wetlands. View rookery teeming with local wading birds such as Egrets, Tri-colored Herons, Ibis, and more.
Spanish Moss Trail
The Spanish Moss Trail is the backbone of pedestrian travel in Beaufort, and provides a walking and biking corridor for all to enjoy. Rent bikes and explore the area from downtown Beaufort to Port Royal, and enjoy all the sites along the way.
Historic Downtown
Enjoy the beauty of Historic Downtown Beaufort, with plenty of shops and restaurants to enjoy. Some of our favorites include Wren Wine Bar and Bistro, Old Bull Tavern, Hearth, and Hemingway's.
Widgeon Point Preserve
Widgeon Point is a lovely 2 mile walk through the forest and salt marsh, a great way to view local birds, and provides spectacular views of the salt marsh.
Sands Beach
Located in Downtown Port Royal, Sands Beach is our closest beach, complete with a boardwalk and located next to many restaurants. Our favorites include Fish Camp, Madison's, and Beaufort's only brewery, Shell Ring.

Rent kayaks, or book a sunset dolphin tour with Coastal Expeditions. With trips leaving from both downtown Beaufort and St. Helena, there are plenty of options suited for any adventure.
