The park includes a section of the Tampa Riverwalk, which is extended alongside it and the Hillsborough River. The Park is serviced by the Pirate Water Taxi which runs 10 A.M. to 8 P.M. A restaurant Ulele was built at the site and opened August 2014 in the nearby Waterworks building as part of urban redevelopment efforts and design with the purpose of integrating the Tampa Heights neighborhood with downtown Tampa. The park features an open lawn, children's splash pad and playground, amphitheater and dog park. In addition, a memorial garden honoring Clara Frye was built at the park. The Ulele Spring has been restored to flow freely into the Hillsborough River.

At the turn of the 20th century, nowhere in the United States was as famous for its cigars as Tampa’s Ybor City, which was once known as the “Cigar Capital of the World.” The Ybor City Historic District is a National Historic Landmark located northeast of Tampa’s downtown. The district contains more than 950 historic buildings and structures built during its peak industrial years. Ybor City’s vibrant character, preserved best in the 7th Avenue Commercial Strip, is defined by the community’s blend of cultures from European, Asian, and Cuban immigrants who settled there to support the region’s once-booming cigar industry brought to Tampa in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Many large and historic homes line the road, as well as business including the Colonnade (restaurant), a historic seafood restaurant established in 1935 and closed in 2016. The St. Pete Pier is a landmark pleasure pier extending into Tampa Bay from downtown St. Pete. Over the years several different structures have been built at the same location. The most recent structure, the third owned by the city, was a five-story inverted pyramid-shaped building, designed by St. Petersburg architect William B. Harvard, Sr. That Inverted Pyramid Pier was closed in 2013, and the new 26-acre Pier District opened on July 6, 2020. The $92 million dollar project includes five restaurants, a playground, an environmental education center, and numerous artworks including work by Xenobia Bailey, Nathan Mabry, Nick Ervinck, and a large sculpture entitled Bending Arc by Janet Echelman.

Nearby, boats depart to Shell Key, a nesting site for seabirds and turtles.
