When the COVID-19 crisis started to escalate, we knew we had to postpone our ceremony for the safety of our friends and family. We then spent a few months deciding whether to move forward with a new date, especially an even longer time after we eloped. Ultimately we want to spend a day celebrating our relationship with those we love, and we want to have those special memories that we were looking forward to. We are hopeful that it will be safe to have our wedding by March 2021, and that we will finally get to have a fun, beautiful day with friends and family!
We became fast friends when Kevin first moved to Vermont, bonding over football and IPAs. We started spending more time together, watching Netflix and talking...and talking...and talking, and we've never stopped! Once we finally realized we wanted to be together, things fell into place pretty quickly, and we've spent as little time apart as possible since then. We love to travel, and have already been on many road trips together, eating and drinking our way through cities along the way. We love to cook together, and make a great team in the kitchen, especially over a good bottle of wine, and assuming we don't trip over either of our 2 cats.
On a Saturday night, after a long day at work, we went to separate apartments to put away secret Christmas presents that had arrived in the mail. When Ciara came over to Kevin's apartment a few minutes later, laid out on the bed were post-it notes, scrambled up anagram-style. When unscrambled, the letters spelled out "Marry me, will you?", in the speech style of Jedi Master Yoda. Kevin got down on one knee and (after saying some very sweet words which are ours to keep) asked Ciara to marry him! Ciara was stunned for a few seconds, but then happily said yes, and Kevin put his grandmother's beautiful engagement ring on Ciara's finger. We celebrated with a nice bottle of wine, and kept the engagement a secret for ourselves, just for the night, before telling our friends and family the next day.
We wanted to get married in Vermont. Like magic, soon after we got engaged there were 3 days in a row when there were no performances, and we decided we were going to elope! We went up to beautiful Stowe, Vermont and stayed in a fancy room in an inn. We had a balcony, a working fireplace, and a jacuzzi tub next to the California king bed! The inn provided a library room to us for an hour, where Lyndall, a justice of the peace, married us on December 18th, 2018. Our friend Kata took photos during the ceremony, and then we shared some wedding cake and champagne. Afterwards we walked around in the snowy, 18 degree weather while Kata took some amazing winter wonderland photos of us! It was a perfect day. We are excited to share another special day with our friends and family next year!
