Maid of Honor
Anie’s younger sister, co-maid of honor, fellow AMS Mustang, NDA Regal, USC Trojan, PiPhi sister, and connoisseur of sauvignon blanc. While these two sisters certainly have their differences (see: Gaby’s singing and literary abilities), they share a love of organization, coordination, details, fashion, sports, travel, jam packed social schedules, being extremely #extra, and did we say sauvignon blanc? Some of Anie’s fondest memories with Gaby include wearing matching outfits their entire childhood, trips to London, Germany (#ladyhosen), and Poland (#homecountry) together, SPIRITED live spectating of USC football, bronzing and sipping Monkey Pod mai tai’s in Hawaii, and consuming all guava, passion fruit, and macadamia products they can get their hands on.
Maid of Honor
Anie’s youngest sister, co-maid of honor, fellow AMS Mustang, NDA Regal, USC Trojan, PiPhi sister, and EY tax professional (send prayers). Being that Anie and Juliette both excel at math, chose the same career in tax, and look quite alike, Juliette is often known as Anie’s “mini me”. While Anie loves having a little sister who is so similar to her in many ways, Anie was not always pleased with the thought of Juliette’s existence. When Anie was 5 years old and first learned she’d be gaining another little sister – she immediately burst in to tears and wailed “I’M HAPPY WITH WHAT I HAVE!” (video footage available upon request). Luckily, Juliette was an absolutely adorable and sweet child and Anie managed to get over that mentality quite quickly. Today these sisters share a love of cooking (that everyone in their family reaps the benefits of), serve as their own public accounting support group, and derive immense joy from competing against each other in Quiplash.
Bridesmaid
Kevin’s older sister, Anie’s bridesmaid, and fellow Dodger fanatic. Maggie is “LITERALLY EVERYTHING” to the bride and groom. She has a heart of gold and is the most thoughtful, caring, kind, supportive, and encouraging sister anyone could hope for. Some of Anie and Kevin’s favorite things to do with Maggie include sipping wine and martinis, snacking on charcuterie, and discussing how they need to drink and snack less. They also love to spoil their niece and nephew rotten, play Quiplash, and attend Dodger and Kings games together. Anie and Kevin are so excited for Maggie’s upcoming wedding in December to Pat, and are thrilled they can be entering the next chapter of married life simultaneously.
Bridesmaid
Kevin’s oldest sister and Anie’s bridesmaid, and the lifelong protector of Kevin AKA “Short”. Casey has always been very protective of Kevin, but within 10 minutes of meeting Anie, Casey knew that Anie was the one for him. Casey is also the mother of Hank and Maggie Lou, the ring bearer and flower girl, who bring so much joy to the Kretzmer family’s lives. Anie and Kevin love to share uplifting and motivating messages in their “Spiritual AF” group chat – and appreciate Casey’s sage advice, support, and the ability to be a sounding board. Anie and Kevin are so grateful to have Casey alongside them on their special day, and throughout life.
Matron of Honor
Anie’s matron of honor, college bestie, Aries soul sister, and perhaps most importantly - mother to Anie’s precious goddaughter Penelope (Penny). Sophie and Anie first met while waiting to be called in to a room for some sort of creepy sorority initiation ritual in the hallway of the Pi Phi house at USC in the fall of 2010. They were discussing where they grew up, and when Sophie mentioned she was from Palos Verdes, Anie name dropped the ONE person she knew from growing up who had moved to PV which was Tim Baumann. Sophie replied with “ummm… THAT’S MY BOYFRIEND” and they became instantly bonded. Sophie was even willing to look past the fact that her now husband Tim tackled Anie to the ground at recess in first grade and kissed her on the cheek which left Anie traumatized (#cooties). At least they can both agree that Tim has always had excellent taste in women.
Bridesmaid
Em is Anie’s elementary school bestie and is instrumental in the way that Kevin and Anie met (but you can read more about that in “Our Love Story” on the home page). These two have seen each other grow and evolve tremendously throughout the 25+ years they have been friends. Anie first remembers Emily as a toe-headed blonde puppy obsessed little girl, who then evolved in to a fiercely competitive athlete and one of the few fellow girls who gave all the boys a run for their money in middle school math (#CPAdads), to a similarly athletic, academic, and FUN friend in high school and college, to the incredibly stylish social media, pop culture, music and beauty guru she is today. Anie cherishes the lifelong friendship she has had with Emily, and is so grateful they have had each other through the many phases of life thus far - and for all the phases to come.
Bridesmaid
Though Meghan and Anie have known each other since elementary school, they became especially close during high school when they were teammates on the MAC rowing team. The team practiced 3 hours a day 5 days a week and traveled to competitions in Sacramento on weekends, so let’s just say these two had a lot of time (and trauma… AKA the rowing machine) to bond them. Some of Anie’s favorite memories with Meg include countless hours spent at Shellback followed by late night meals at the Kettle (#muffins, #RANCH), ski trips and cozy cabin time in Big Bear, attending Stagecoach where Meg met her now hubby James, witnessing Meg do the worm, Irish dance, and sing “What’s Up” every chance she gets, and simply hanging out at the Costopoulos house goofing around and talking in “the Costopoulos voice” with all of Meg’s family members (it’s funny, they promise). Though Anie greatly misses having Meg in the South Bay, she loves witnessing Meg live her best life up in San Francisco, and it makes all of Meg’s visits home that much sweeter!
Bridesmaid
Last but certainly not least, Liz aka Beth aka Nurse Betty aka Buddy, Anie’s best friend from college, partner in crime, NYC roomie, fellow lover of sauvignon blanc and Target, and official find my iPhone search party designee. Liz and Anie also met in the fall of 2010 upon becoming members of Pi Phi. Anie’s first notable memory of Liz was at a pre-game when Liz taught Anie how to properly take a shot, “Ya just… throw it back!” Liz explained. Upon Liz’s instruction, Anie became far too proficient in shot-taking, which is ironic because now Liz couldn’t take a shot to save her life (#weareold). These two have had more shenanigans domestically and internationally than is probably recommended. From LA, to SF, to Chicago, to NYC and Montauk, to Cabo, to galivanting around Europe – this dynamic duo has made “Bicoastal Benders” their personal brand. Said benders were so fun that Anie decided to take the bicoastal out of the equation and move to NYC in December 2016. Anie cherishes the 2.5 years she spent living in NYC, and Liz (as well as her friends and family) was instrumental in making that chapter so fun and memorable.
Best Man
D, D-man, Derek… Best Man. Derek and Kevin have been best friends since 1999, a time so far off that when these two met - Kevin was actually taller than Derek! But before meeting, they were actually not at all friends. In fact, they each thought that they were way too cool for one another and they were actually forced to hang out when their Mom’s made Maggie Kretzmer and Jay Eitel to take them to the beach one day during the summer of 1999. Little did they know this was the start to their life long friendship. Kevin and Derek had a 4 hour surf sesh that day and Kevin even had a family dinner and slept over at the Eitel’s that night. They’ve been best friends ever since. The two of them have built houses in Mexico, surfed up and down the coast of California as well as in Costa Rica and Nicaragua, and also hit nearly every country in Europe… Derek and Kevin have done it all with each other.
Best Man
BG, Best Man #2. Ironically, Brian and Kevin didn’t start out as friends either. BG was best buddies with Matt Pagan, and the two of them were archrivals with Derek and Kevin out in the lineup of El Porto in the early 2000s. In fact, at the end of an unheard of south-southwest swell circa late November 2001, BG was spotted surfing the whitewater and Kevin proceeded to yell out to BG “You whitewater surfer kook!” Fast forward to Derek’s first day at Loyola freshman year, Derek calls Kevin and tells him that he met BG and that he was actually a cool guy. Kevin was shocked to hear, and was in disbelief. Soon after that, Kevin and BG became besties and the rest is history.
Groomsman
Drew AKA Drewbie, Kevin’s diehard 49ers bestie. Drew was roommates with Derek at the infamous “Dorothy House” at SDSU. Drew and Kevin became besties from the get go - and when Drew found out that Kevin was a diehard 49ers fan, it was over. On January 12th 2013, Kevin went down to San Diego to watch the 49ers divisional playoff game vs the Green Bay Packers. Drew and Kevin went to the biggest 49ers bar in town, Typhoons. Before the game started, they made a pact. “Every touchdown we score, we take a shot of Patron!”. Fast forward… Colin Kapernick rushed for an NFL playoff record of 181 yards, 2 rushing touchdowns and 2 passing touchdowns, and the Niners scored a total of 6 touchdowns. Drew and Kevin woke up at 2am back at Drew’s apartment and the first thing Drew said to Kevin as they woke up in their drunken stupor was “Did we win?”...
Groomsman
Tyler Bradford AKA Braddie… Tyler and Kevin have had quite the relationship since they first met in the summer of 1999. Tyler is 5 years older than Kevin and was/is a mentor of Kevin’s. Many people will ask Kevin, “How are you so tough?”. Well…. Tyler has a lot to do with that. Tyler would throw Kevin into trash cans at El Porto when he was acting up and put him in his place. If they are on a group text chain with the Fantasy football or Doyers buddies, if Kevin ever says anything that Tyler doesn’t fully agree with, he will call him out in front of everyone. If Tyler really wants to buy an apartment building and Kevin calls Tyler and says “there are 21 offers on the property” Braddie would reply “GET IT DONE KRETTY”... And Kretty did get it done, which is because of the relentlessness that Tyler instilled on Kevin over the past 24 years.
Groomsman
Brennan “BJ” Jansen... Brennan and Kevin hit it off from day 1! Anytime Brennan walks into any room, he’s the life of the party and the person everyone wants to talk to. Whether that was back in the day at a Sigma Chi party at SDSU or at some random little 400 square foot bar off an island in Croatia, Brennan IS the party and brings the vibes. Brennan and Kevin developed a brotherhood even more so after college thanks to Derek and Brennan wanting to travel the world. Wish there was time and space to tell all of the hilarious and epic adventures they had here on this website, but when you run into Brennan and Kev at the wedding, make sure to ask them and they’ll give you a couple of fun stories ;)
Groomsman
B-rad… Brad and Kevin have known each other the looooongest, their friendship dates back to 1994 when they first met each other at St Joseph’s preschool in El Segundo. After preschool, they went their separate ways with schooling but then all of sudden, 6 years later, Kevin gets dropped off for the first day of 6th grade at AMS, rushes to stand in line before the National Anthem and morning prayer and Kevin gets a tap on his shoulder. Kevin turns around, see’s Brad and he says “Oh.. Hi Kevin!”. Brad and Kevin were put in the same math class in 6th grade with Mr. Lee, and it was very short lived. Kevin and Brad would constantly have staring contests, get in trouble talking and passing notes, along with a laundry list of other nuisances they pulled. After that first semester in 6th grade, they were never allowed to be in the same class ever again.
Groomsman
Emmtet/Wisconsin/Chicago, as Kevin first had him in his contacts on his iPhone, is actually the newest friend of his groom, but damn - did they hit it off from the start! The first weekend they hung out was a frigid one in Chicago. They went to Solider Field for a classic Bears vs Packers game and it was the 2nd coldest game on record at Soldier Field. 2 degrees with a -15 degrees windchill. You would grab a beer and by the time you got to your seat, it was a 7-11 slushie. Kevin would then proceed to take his shirt off after Randall Cobb scored a TD near the corner endzone that Emmett and Kevin were sitting first row at, and John Lynch who was calling the game said on Fox’s broadcast “Wow. Don’t think I could have enough beer to do what that guy is doing right now”. Shortly after that, Emmett moved from Chicago to the South Bay, where the two of them have had and continue to have weekly “business” meetings at the prestigious Barnacles and Naja establishments where they discuss current events, how much they drive their girls crazy, and what their next investments should be. Unfortunately… none of those investments have taken off...YET!
Groomsman
Matthew Nash… Nash was considered one of the top athletes at American Martyrs, and a staple in their boy’s volleyball program (2x CYO Champ). So naturally, they paired Nash to be Kevin’s Big Buddy, circa 1997. Nash was in 7th grade and Kevin was in the 2nd grade. Little did they know that their relationship would take them to where they are now with Nash being one of Kretty’s groomsmen, best friend, investing mentor, and the occasional BP/Civil/golf scramble partner. Nash is also partially responsible for Anie and Kevin’s relationship thanks to the Nash’s family love for Anastasia over the years and Emily and Anie being besties for over 25+ years. Before Kevin’s first date, he was texting Nash how to properly pronounce “Anie”. Kev said “Ok bro. So do you pronounce it like Ann-nie?” “No brother. You pronounce it like ‘AH-Ny’” Nash said. First impressions are a big deal and Anie suuuure doesn’t like being called Annie. So a big thanks from Kevin to Nash there.
Groomsman
KG… BG’s older brother and the best golfer of the bros.. KG has dealt with a looot of kookiness from the younger barnies (Derek, BG and Kevin) and has taught many lessons to them over the years, especially while they were in high school. KG also had the legendary Black 1999 Tahoe that had Subwoofers that were so loud, BG didn’t even have to call Derek and Kevin to come outside of the Etiel’s house because they could hear KG making the turn on Pershing drive. And getting back to him being the best Golfer in the group… KG will always say that Kretty is the best golfer, but that is false, and very standard of KG. Funny enough, when they don’t play together, KG averages about an 86. But when KG and Kretty play together, KG shoots an average 75 and never misses any putts within 20 feet.
Groomsman
Bruddar Pat. Kevin’s soon to be bro-in-law. Eventually, Kevin will learn how to spell Pat’s last name correctly (It’s Pennel… Not Pennell) Pat is truly the brother that Kevin has never had and he couldn’t be a better match as the future husband to Maggie Kretzmer and addition to the Kretzmer/Thom Family. Even though Pat is a diehard Giants fan, he does not let that get in the way between Maggie and Kevin’s love for the Dodgers (thankfully Pat is at least a 49ers fan). It also doesn’t hurt that Martha Kretzmer now has yet another man in the family who she can ask for help around the house when she needs something new to be set up, taken down, put away, or prepared for a party (which is quite often). This means a lot to Kevin because Kev already has soOoOOo much to do for Anie on a daily basis with every party she hosts or new project that she is working on ;). Truly though, Kevin is very thankful to have someone who makes his sister so happy in the picture as both Kevin and Maggie both enter into the married chapter of their lives.
Groomsman
Cashuuuuu, AKA Paul Wall,AKA Sgt. Parmesan, Paul unfortunately won’t be able to attend the wedding in SLO, but he will be with us in spirit as he honorably serves our country overseas. Paul and Kevin have been best friends for so long, much in part to their many shared interests, including but not limited to volleyball, music, fantasy football, golf, Dodgers, Lakers, LA Kings, and (newly for Kevin – thanks to Anie) USC football. Above all, Paul has always been such a reliable and supportive friend to Kevin and sets a phenomenal example of how to be a man of faith and an all-around great person. Although Paul has never won any fantasy league championships or golf pools that Kevin puts on for every major, Kevin still greatly enjoys his conversations about sports with Paul even though clearly none of his analysis is accurate. Thankfully, Paul fully redeems himself with his fantastic taste in music and fireeeeee Spotify playlists.
